LG Electronics Combination Microwaves

The combination microwave/toaster and microwave/coffee maker products from LG Electronics have been making the rounds of the blogs lately starting with Apartment Therapy. These space-saving appliances are just the latest in a long line of space-saving products that combine several kitchen functions into one machine. There's something about these machines that makes me uneasy. While I'm fine with grind and brew coffee makers (I gave my sister one for Christmas) microwaving and toasting just don't seem to be functions that should be in the same machine. These sell for around $150 each. Comments on other blogs from users indicate that you can't use the toaster and the microwave at the same time but that overall the functionality isn't bad.

OH PLEASE. This is NOT a luxury product. If this was replaced by the new Gaggenau oven then sure, but this? I'm pretty sure I can speak for most people that come here in saying we don't want to see common things like an LG microwave, we want to see fabulous, frivolous, beautifully designed, innovative and expensive things. I like this blog, but when I see posts like this I can't help but wonder.... WHY?

I actually have the LG microwave featured to the left. It's a fantastic space-saving device with great stainless steel aesthetics. It's only weak point would be the toaster that appears to use air-induction to evenly spread the heat. Not the best method, imo.
