High Flying and Global Warming Words Get John Travolta In Trouble
John Travolta, seems to have forgotten one of the greatest truisms in life: those who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones. At the British premiere of his motorcycle buddy pic, Wild Hogs, Travolta took it upon himself to hold forth on the topic of the environment. The actor, who owns five planes and has a home with a private runway in Florida asked his fans to do their part to help tackle global warming. This Is London calculates that the flying Travolta has done in the past year adds up to a hefty 800 tons of carbon emissions. Travolta made his comments after driving down the red carpet on a Harley Davidson. Travolta blamed his flying on the movie business and also said that perhaps we should be thinking about other planets and "dome cities" as possible solutions. He did admit that he is not the best person to lecture on the problem of global warming due to his love of flying planes. So far he has not done what other actors and performers (and Al Gore) have done and purchase carbon credits to offset his pollution.
In a related story, after leaving London on his plane, Travolta went to Germany for another premiere. While flying his private jet from Germany to New York, the Boeing 707 suffered "technical difficulties" mid-flight and he was forced to make an emergency landing at Shannon airport in Ireland.
Upddate: TMZ reports that there was never an emergency, that Travolta's plane made a routine fuel stop and problem with the #2 engine was discovered and a starter was replaced.

When will people open their eyes and ears. Global warming is a scam. They are shoveling snow in D.C. right now and it has snowed more then 3x in Seattle this year! First, most environmentalists and especially celebrities have no technical or scientific credentials whatsoever. Global warming is a classic scare campaign initiated by the Greens after a previous effort in the 1970s to influence public policy by declaring a coming Ice Age failed to generate any response.Studies have clearly demonstrated that large temperature swings have been common in the past 1,000 years, and that temperatures warmer than today were common in 50-year periods about 1,000 years ago. These studies suggest that the climate we see today is not unusual at all.Environmentalists claim that the Earth’s atmosphere is getting hotter. They claim that the polar icecaps and glaciers will melt and sea levels will rise over two hundred feet, flooding most coastal cities. They claim that many areas of the Earth will turn into deserts. They make all these claims but cannot substantiate them with real scientific evidence.

All this is just another Liberal tactic to have Government control your behavior--the planet will be here long after the human race is gone.

If Washington D.C. is Holywood for ugly people, is Hollywood D.C. for stupid people? "Carbon Credits" are just a shell game to make us feel better about not doing anything. Don't buy gas for a day? Yeah, just walk to Yoga at the mall. Electric Cars? Powered by non-regulated coal/natural burning plants in Mexico or exempted up the wahzoo by the current administration (anyone remember Cheney's closed door energy summit Pre-9/11? "Great National Security Interest was cited by Gonzales's attnrnys. in the Supreme court case against public disclosure). How about Hybrids? Anyone know what kind of crap goes into battery production for these "Hi Tech" panaceas? We don't have to know, not if they're made in China or Mexico. And what do we do when they're fried? Just send them to Nevada or Ohio with all the Nuclear waste and used tires. Imagine all the pretty colors when they burn! I can't stand Mel Gibson, but maybe he's right; if "The Inconvienent Truth" doesen't have the impact that "Silent Spring" did, maybe we should brush up on "The Road Warrior". Me, I'm gonna stock up on Hi Test, 12ga. loads and 350 small blocks. Or maybe bio-diesel, pepper spray, and Zanax.

I would love to own a hybrid but I need one that is comfortable and I can fit in it. A Prius is a little car for short people. I'm 5'10 and hubby is 6'4. When we sit in a Prius, our knees are up around our ears. Since I already have bad knees, I need to be comfortable. I also haul a lot of items for my job so I have an SUV. Don't bother torturing me about it...the car is paid for and is 8 years old. Let's challenge them to come up with a comfortable AND fuel efficient vehicle.

Only a bigot would use a blog on global warming to
express ignorance about the Catholic Church
JP Apr 8th 2007 10:45PM
anyone else find it ironic that al gore's take on global warming won an academy award? yeah...global warming is a bunch of crap
look at the facts
1. the heating of the earth is part of a natural cycle...back in the 70's people were afraid of "global freezing"
2. if greenhouse gases are leading to global warming by depleting ozone, then why is the biggest ozone hole over the continent of antartica? unless of course the entire population of 1 billion smokes...but i doubt it since they're fricking penguins
3.Al gore is the biggest hypocritical piece of crap to ever walk the earth. he tries to tell everyone how they should run their lives, and how we're screwing the earth over...yet in addition to the private plane, gore has 2 houses, one in arlington using 20x the energy used by the average american family, and then one in tennessee which uses 100x...theres a role model for you right there
4. if the effects of global warming are so serious and irrevocable, then how is it that he can just throw money at it to "offset" it?
let me lay it out in terms everyone can understand...people were starting to ignore gore for a while, so he started advocating for a cause that was gaining in popularity...hes starving for attention, and hes willing to decieve the american people who are dumb enough to believe his crap so he can stay as the center of attention
yeah...manbearpig all over again

Pam u are so full of crap u cant see.... We are killing this planet and u call it natural??!! Then tell me how this is happening naturally??!! Dork
Geri Apr 8th 2007 11:20PM
Oh PUHLEEZE! Entertainers are not role models! Get over it! If I could afford to do the same I would in a heart beat! and so would all of you! In 100 years we and our progeny will be long gone - But I for one will have had one hell of a ride!
Chris Apr 8th 2007 11:08PM
P.S.- Global Warming isn't about the earth being "Warm" all the time. Before regurgitatiting FoxPoganda, maybe some of you 'semi 'litrate types could at least browse a topic or two on Wikipidia before you two- finger you ignorance between episodes of O'Reilly and Crank Yankers. Oh, and Travolta is a "LIberal"? He's a brainwashed religious fanatic, just like "W", not a limpwristed feel good hypocrite. Me, I LOVE be a Foo Foo Liberal! Being relaxed makes it easier to crack them head shots at 1200 meters! Being Liberal dosen't make us pussies. It just dosen't make a lot us go BACK to Iraq . Keep pushing, Facist Punks. Kent State won't happen again.

Please get off your ass in front of the computer and go enlist so your President can send your ass to Iraq and you can get a first hand look at the lies and lies your dumb ass President keeps shoveling up your face.

Just because someone is famous does not give them more intelligence than the rest of us. Stop listening to these people and do your best to live your life for yourself and others. Someone has said you become just like what or whom is your idol.
Stacy Apr 8th 2007 11:31PM
Boy is it scary to read how many of you believe global warming is a hoax or that human beings have nothing to do with it. For those of you that believe this - what a nice, comfortable little bubble you live in! If you choose to ignore global warming and its affects so that you can live your life without a conscience, at least look at your children and future generations, and think about the world your leaving behind for them.

It facinates me that people on the left preach about all the things we should do to save the planet but they use as much energy as everyone else, and then people on the right say there is not problem so they can use the planet as they choice to (manifest destiny). We in the middle continue to be lied to at both ends. It is obvious that there is a problem, and there are many reasons for it, not the least of which we as humans pollute so much. (don't take your trash out and just leave it in the house - pour all your waste chemicals in a barrel in the basement and see how long your health is ok - the same with our planet) What kind of cars does the American manufactures sell to the Europe and the rest of the world? They have always had high fuel prices, and drive efficient cars, sold by manufactures in Europe and (suprise) American manufactures. Do they sell these cars here, no, but then the Koreans, Japanese sell them to us and we complain about them taking over the market. If we listen to them they tell us that Americans do not want efficient cars. They want power. I am a hotrodder and car enthusiast. I love the muscle cars of the 60's, but the truth is that there are many 4 cylinder cars, manufactured today, that will kill them in a race, The manufactures complained about antilock brakes, airbags, seat belts, just about every safety feature devised. Saying that it would force costs on the consumer, but now market their cars with how many airbags they have, how antilock brakes are standard, etc., etc. The technology is there to make efficient, powerful cars, but US car makers take the short route of taking a truck chassis and producing a SUV. It is so much cheaper and they make so much more money off of them. If they thought long term they would do what makes our country best, inovation and produce the efficient, fast, reliable, stylist cars that we are able to make and the public will buy them. If we use less gas, we will have less wars in the name of "our national interests.

EXCELLENT COMMENTS ABOUT THE RICH AND FAMOUS WHO TALK THE TALK BUT DON'T WALK THE WALK.SOME OF US THOUGH ARE IRRESPONSIBLE ALSO BECAUSE MOST AIRPORTS/AIRLINES IN MEDIUM AND SMALL AIRPORTS WANT TO ACCOMIDATE THE CUSTOMERS AND SCHEDULE NUMEROUS FLIGHTS THAT ARE HALF-FULL WHEN FEWER FLIGHTS,FULL OF PASSENGERS COULD CUT THE NUMBER OF FLIGHTS. COULDN'T WE WAIT A WHILE OR FLY LATER???
Brad Kirkland Apr 8th 2007 11:44PM
a 707??? OH C'mon!Even if he has to fly(himself around(which is understandable),he could sell that monstrosoity and buy a small jet, such as an Eclipse or the new Honda coming out.You really dont need 4 engines to get places, and it would probably be more fun to fly those anyway.I'm glad he enjoys flying, many people do,so i see no reason to cut out flying as a hobby or a necessity, but if you are serious about helping, you can if you want. The airlines need to wake up too. Many times I sit on the ramp waiting to take off, engines running, burning fuel and waiting.Again there is NO need to take a 737 on a jaunt thats less than an hour or 2.A smaller more fuel efficient plane would do fine, when its not fully loaded anyway.
Brad Kirkland Apr 8th 2007 11:51PM
Check out Zapworld.com they already have electric cars suitable for road use and more in the pipeline.Heck, they even sell one model on Ebay for about 10k!

I do not know John Travolta. I do not know Tom Cruise. I no longer watch their movies. I know little about airplanes. I do know about fans and stalkers. Someone on the Internet told me they owned a plane with a 'nose'. It is a fairly large aircraft and had flown over my upstairs bedroom window. The nose is red wire frame ( or composite mesh). I would assume the pilot was flying low as possible. I could have hit it with a rock. Does anyone know what type of plane this is ? And who owns such aircraft ? I'm flattered but a letter only costs 39 cents and very on low emissions.
Thank you if anyone has input.
Toni Apr 9th 2007 12:08AM
Travolta isn't asking anyone to pay for his fuel, so stop picking on him. Everyone of us can help to improve our environment and it doesn't depend on one person. "John" if you read this, please email me as I live in Hillsdale, NJ, where your uncle or Dad owned a tire business in the 1950's. Used to see you and another little fellow playing in the tire wells.
You had the brightest blue eyes I had ever seen.
David Apr 9th 2007 4:42AM
The people on here sound like they are jealous of john travolta...if the person can afford to buy 10 planes and that is what makes them happy, who are we to queston them, if the person can afford to buy 2 or 10 houses, they earned that money they should be able to do with it as they please...don't hate the playa hate the game..or better yet GET IN THE GAME and make your money, then you can buy whatever you want and however many of them that you want...stop hating on people that earned the right to live as they choose....

#14 is a complete fool if they believe that global warming doesn't exist. You should be embarrassed to make a comment like that. I do agree that celebrities seem to like to hear themselves talk and don't ever seen back up there words with action. Not all of them but most of them.
