High Flying and Global Warming Words Get John Travolta In Trouble
John Travolta, seems to have forgotten one of the greatest truisms in life: those who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones. At the British premiere of his motorcycle buddy pic, Wild Hogs, Travolta took it upon himself to hold forth on the topic of the environment. The actor, who owns five planes and has a home with a private runway in Florida asked his fans to do their part to help tackle global warming. This Is London calculates that the flying Travolta has done in the past year adds up to a hefty 800 tons of carbon emissions. Travolta made his comments after driving down the red carpet on a Harley Davidson. Travolta blamed his flying on the movie business and also said that perhaps we should be thinking about other planets and "dome cities" as possible solutions. He did admit that he is not the best person to lecture on the problem of global warming due to his love of flying planes. So far he has not done what other actors and performers (and Al Gore) have done and purchase carbon credits to offset his pollution.
In a related story, after leaving London on his plane, Travolta went to Germany for another premiere. While flying his private jet from Germany to New York, the Boeing 707 suffered "technical difficulties" mid-flight and he was forced to make an emergency landing at Shannon airport in Ireland.
Upddate: TMZ reports that there was never an emergency, that Travolta's plane made a routine fuel stop and problem with the #2 engine was discovered and a starter was replaced.

Another celeb talking out of his/her ass. Carbon credits are the biggest bullshit in the world, they just wont admit it. It should be called paying for their conscience. Just thank God Travolta didnt pull a Cruise while he was at it.

Did You Know... that there was an Electric Car made back in 1914 called the (Brougham Cinderella Coach) that would get 211 miles per charge and go over 65 MPH. It's power came from only 14 six volt Edison batteries.
At one point there was more Electric cars on the roads then Gas cars. So what happened you ask?...You only need to ask yourself, If they could do that back then. Why can't they do that now...But only better!?
.... They won't because they have all of us paying high prices for Gas and Oil and Spark Plugs and Antifreeze and every other thing that a Gas Motor needs. The electric cars were just to Good!
...Then, Flash Forward to GM's EV-1 Electric Car. Every single car was taken back from their owner who leased them and then crushed and destroyed, even though every single owner offered to buy them. This was the first time this has happened in the history of the automobile! GM never wanted to sell this car to anyone this is why it was never advertised even though it was built for almost 10 years! Watch the movie ("Who Killed the Electric Car")
We are being lied to people! Time to wake up! If they can make a 9 volt battery put out 600,000 volts in a stun gun then what could they do in an Electric car.
Just think of how much would be saved...No Engine, NoValves, NoPistons, No Spark Plugs, No Timing Belt, No Crankshaft, NoTransmission, No Starter,
No Tune-Up's, NoGas, No Clutch, No Exhaust, No Muffler, No More Smog Checks, No Dipsticks and No Oil Changes!
Now check this out... www.zapworld.com www.teslamotors.com
There are even more if you do a search! They want to keep us in Big, Oversized Gas Hogs! Because they make the most money that way!

We all need to be responsible and not think someone exhibits worse behavior than ourselves. However, it would be interesting to hear a celebrity give an honest reaction for them to use private jets, enormous mansions, and still tell us they are helping the environment. For every action, there is a reaction. and now we are living with our actions.

He is just another Celebrity who is saying alot of S*** for publicity only. If he was strict he wouldn't do all this stuff like flying a ton. I do believe he wants the other planets idea being his religion thinks we are from another planet lol. I hate when some celeb says stuff or gives a small amount of money and then thinks they are making a difference when in fact they wouldn't probably look back twice at a person begging for change or a child starving for food but they will throw a billion dollar party to raise some money for people in another country other than our own... Sad..

Carbon credit? So you can do whatever you want to the enviroment as long as you are rich enough???
charlie Apr 8th 2007 9:27PM
After we all "go green" and recycle everything in sight and then send lots of money to the "save the species of the month" fund, how do we convince China, Russia, India and everyone else to do the same? I'm getting tired of having the U.S. held to a higher "moral" standard than the rest of the world as though every problem is our fault or that we have a greater responsibility to find a solution to them.

No; for real it's all a lot crap, be cheap and never waste don't let no body turn you 'round.

I wish the money folks would buy us poor folk a good and decent vehicle that doesn't pollute like they all drive.
I cannot drive that much wasting gas because it costs too much and the prices are going to keep going up.
And number 11, I totally agree with you.

I am fan of John Travolta since he was as Vinnie Barbarino on Welcome Back Kotter. I am 40 years old.
WIZ Apr 8th 2007 9:57PM
GET YOUR HEAD OUT OF YOUR ASS BARBARINO YOU WANT EVERYONE TO DO THEIR PART WHILE YOU DON'T DO YOURS? TYPICAL HOLLYWOOD MORON, GO TO YOUR "CHURCH" AND PRAY TO HUBBARD TO FORGIVE YOUR SINS ASSHOLE!

"Carbon credits". Another example that if you have enough money you can buy anything. During the Civil War, the Union instituted a draft, but a person could pay someone else to take his place. No matter how you look at it, an able-bodied man was being removed from the draft pool, but the rich guy didn't have to feel guilty for being a draft-dodger. And that's what it's all about for these Hollywood liberals,"Feeling good" because they are "Doing something". They are all such complete hippocrites, and their fans and worshippers just can't see it. They go to any length to come up with excuses and distorted rationales to defend them. "Well, he's a big star, he needs/deserves that private jet". My neighbor thinks he needs his Expedition, too. I don't expect Al Gore or John Travolta or Barbra Streisand to live the way I do, but maybe if they came down just a little from their ivory towers I might give a damn what they say I should do.
D Longstreet Apr 8th 2007 9:57PM
Typical, hypocritical liberals. Whether it is Hollywood hypocrites (Al Gore, Travolta), lying liberal politicians (Clinton, Reid, Pelosi), or deceiving democrats (Obama)... they are all hypocrites!

The last celebrity who actually practiced what he preached, as far as saving the environment, was Dennis Weaver. He built a house in the southwest and practiced recycling. I believe he built it into a hill and used old car tires for the body of the house.
Although I don't remember the details of construction, he did not build a utility guzzling McMansion like so many other celebrities have done.

From what I remember from history, the last time we (poor folk) were handed a load of BS like this, the phrase "Let them eat cake" was said. Oh to be rich and so shortsighted!!!!!!!
Jameson Apr 8th 2007 10:19PM
All this talk about Travolta when Al "The-Sky-Is-Falling!" Gore is the biggest hypocrite of all. If he REALLY believed what he promotes his home and transportation choices would be severely curtailed, and yet he adds more carbon load to the earth's atmosphere than 14 regular families. Nice job, Al.
Steve Poleskie Apr 8th 2007 10:23PM
For about twenty years I created pieces of "Aerial Theater" in the sky. I flew an aerobatic biplane trailing smoke. These events were often accompanied by musicians and dancers on the ground. This work was very popular in Europe, especially Italy, where it was seen as an extension of Futurism. Then one day I realized that despite how beautiful, and spectacular, these events were, I was basically just adding pollution to the sky. I ceased flying, and sold my two airplanes. John Travolta would probably benefit by doing the same. The clearest skies I have ever seen were in the days just after 9/11 when all air traffic was banned.

This is just a follow-up to Post #9 by Jon Jordan. He is quite wrong indeed. Many organisms do NOT produce CO2 as a by-product of respiration. Infact many organisms do not breath in oxygen in the same way as higher species. Anaerobic organisms actually have no need for it. Biology 101
