Ritz-Carlton Tokyo Opens, Offers Diamond Martini
Last year we wrote about the influx of new luxury hotels in Tokyo. Now the Ritz-Carlton, Tokyo, a 248-room hotel in the city's tallest skyscraper is officially open. The hotel starts on the 45th floor and is home to Japan's most expensive Presidential Suite, at $20,000 per night, and a 200-year-old Japanese teahouse. The design scheme blends European inspiration with contemporary details such as four bold and colorful works by American painter Sam Francis. The hotel's lofty location provides views of the city and Mt. Fuji in the distance. The Ritz-Carlton Club, accessible only by elevator key, offers multi-lingual concierge service and round-the-clock food and beverage offerings. The hotel is also home to restaurants that feature sushi, tempura and Teppanyaki as well as a restaurant that serves Asian and French inspired cuisine.The Washington Post reports that the hotel also offers a very pricey drink. The Diamonds-Are-Forever Martini is a $16,000 cocktail with a one-carat Bulgari diamond at the bottom that you can take to any Bulgari store in Tokyo and have a ring fitted to the stone for free.

I don't have a lot of money, I have family. That is what makes me happy. I'm not comfortable in settings of obulence, but hey, that's just me. Personally, I don't care what people do with their money. If they want to spend it on a $16,000. drink with a diamond in it, who really cares. The differences in people are what make the world go round. So do any of us have the "right" to critisize what other people do? It makes us small and jealous. So for those that can afford it and want to do it, do it with my blessing. For those of us who cannot afford it and want to be able to, then get busy and earn they money like they did. And if you don't want to earn the money to do it, then shut up. It's really none of your business anyway what other people do.

Whlst one is not obliged to help the poor,spending so much money in the midst of poverty in the world or even in the specific country where this hotel is located shows the type of person you are and also the type of women you associate with who accept something so lavishly materialist .Happiness does not come from spending lots of money which the majority do not have.Relationships and happiness are nurtured on more solid natural ground than a 16k bottle. Maybe if we want to see how God views money, we can look at the people he gives it to.

I too liked the sunsets from Mike. As far as the cost of the drink: If you have it now, you cannot take it with you.
The best things in life are really free. I have donated my time and money, seen others do the same, and we do not do that for the photo ops or press. We do it because we can. I may agree that Angelina should look to the U.S. to adopt, but,if we all took care of own first; where would the problem be? There are many children out there, in the world, good for her that she has the money to choose.
Personally, a diamond in a drink? hmmm, make sure I am not too drunk to swallow it.
You pay for what you get, good and bad.

last thought about Tuesday the 10th of April 2007...
This is the last day we need to feel fear or question ourselves. All we have to do is listen to the voice in our heads (not the one that says "those rag head bastards") the other voice. The one that says ENOUGH! Enough war, enough lives lost. World leaders may be a far cry from what we need, but we all know what to do....just say no! No more trying to fix an endless civil war. We barely survived our own. "NO" to our elected officials that think we should police the world. NO to those who think that legal drug proliferation is reason for the needy to go without them because of cost. (did I spell proliferation right?) No to America being a bully around the world. No to my next beer...nite nite

What is it that makes people so negative these days? If someone has the money and wants to spend it on a $16K drink with a diamond...so be it. It has nothing to do with you so why shold it bother you? That diamond could be a priceless heirloom that will mean something to that family for generations to come. Stop being so pessimistic !

I have a vision of the future....the building will crumble in an earthquake, along with all the vain people who order that Martinini!!!!!
Laurie Apr 11th 2007 2:38AM
Hey ali, learn how to spell. Idiot.
mike Apr 11th 2007 2:23AM
Laurie, I have a premonition also. You will crumble as you pass out and the building will be fine. Thank you for checking in with us darling, now just close your eyes even if your driving and hush a little.
Laurie Apr 11th 2007 2:53AM
hey Mike, this is you, BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH
sylvia Apr 11th 2007 2:40AM
I am not easily impressed but you've got to admit it's glorious. I'd be happy knowing I had enough money to cover my modest bills without the worry that I have to endure as well as working 7 days a week to get it done.
But if you could order me 3 martinis...I am envisioning a drop dead gorgeous ring! Oh yeah...can you make those martinis dirty, with 5 olives?!
**I love a good dirty martini...the olive juice kills the flavor of the alcohol and makes it easy to swallow. Also, after 5 of them, I still have all my senses but I can't feel my face! :)~

Hey Laurie, thanks for making such a prolific reconstruct of the sounds you made as you evidently passed the sheep detector at your daddy's ranch. We know how powerful you are so please don't destroy the world.....but if you would be so kind don't bother Ali and I again or we will be forced to wear diapers in protest to Mums only error to the throne

I am so sick and tired of hearing about the poor people. People with money work hard for it. If poor people could find something better to do with their time other than popping out a kid every 9 months, maybe they would have some money too. If I had a significant amount of money, I would give to charity, but my #1 concern would be to make myself happy. Money can't buy happiness?? Bull s**t it can!! Wealthy people shouldn't be made to feel guilty that they are sucessful. They should enjoy every minute of it.
Laurie Apr 11th 2007 7:38PM
blah,blah, blah!
mike Apr 11th 2007 3:14AM
Sylvia I have been searching for you all of my life. When you say dirty Martini I perk up. Sweet screamin Jesus, woman write more!!!!! D=desire
I=insatiable
R=respirator free
T=top half gone wild
Y=I never met you B4
but tell me true do you hate Laurie as much as I do?
Sure it was only a few blah, blah, blahs but I felt she saw right through me and that hurt. Please visualize Laurie not saying those things to me. And also ask Jesus to stop putting peanut butter on the roof of my mouth just before it's my turn to speak.
tsk tsk Apr 11th 2007 3:17AM

Now, the real question is, why in the heck would I spend 16K on a woman.
sylvia Apr 11th 2007 4:44AM

I could still recall when I was In Mt Fuji, What a sight it must be to see on both perpective...priceless
I once bought my girfriend a 14" LCD TV, her reaction was priceless(she's been wanting one for a while).
A homeless man once asked me for a quarter and I said "How about a dollar?", he took it with a smile that one don't often see, you should have felt what I felt...
I don't see ones emotion more expensive than others, but rather the level of emotion an expression has made. V

good night america and good morning everyone else
it is a great new day, try to be kind!
Martin Apr 12th 2007 10:34PM
Why all these comments about giving to the poor? If you've got money, spend it however you like, including on overpriced diamonds. Maybe all those people asking for charity, just aren't satisfied with the size of their welfare checks.
