Lil Jon's Necklace Sets Bling Record

Rapper Lil Jon has quite a handful with the necklace shown here. The Guinness Book of World Records has officially certified it as the largest diamond pendant ever. The "Crunk Aint Dead" pendant is 7.5 inches tall, six inches wide and weighs almost 12 pounds. This is some bitty bling, 73 carats of diamonds on the necklace but 3,756 round-cut white diamonds total set in 18K yellow and white gold. It is valued at around $500,000. I'd say something about how tacky it is but he seems so proud of it.

Well, it's not quite as tacky as diamond studded gold crowns on his front teeth but certainly runs a close second to it. He's clearly not a smart investor so it's fairly safe in saying that when his career is washed up and he is elderly and broke he will be kicking his beadpan or laying it over the bling he squandered in his youth. Perhaps ignorance is bliss. I don't really care.

Granted, it is his money to do with what he will. It would be wonderful if ALL the wealthy do things to lift the downtrodden and unfortunate. $500,000? At my current rate of income, it will take over 15 years to accumulate that much money. And that is provided I don't pay the rent and utilities or feed my family.

I agree that this piece of jewelry is obnoxious and tacky, and that there are a million things that he could spend his money on to better the world, but to all you people saying he could be helping his community and starving kids in Africa: if you had $500,000, what would you do with it? Seriously think about this. I know the first thing I would do is buy myself an old Corvette, then move my mom and I out of this condo into a real house, and then pay off her credit card debt. Then I'd invest the rest and hope that it made me enough money over time to not have to work, and maybe even enough that I could share with my family. I would, sad to say, probably not give any of it back to my community, and I sincerely doubt anyone else that's posted so far would do much more. I think it's ridiculous to spend a huge amount of money on something like that, but as 2 or 3 others have said, there are people out there who spend thousands on purses, hundreds on jeans, I mean, why not call Jay Leno a stuck up bastard for having such a vast car collection? Lil Jon spent thousands, Leno spends millions upon millions on his cars. And you know what? That's a dream of mine. I wish I had his car collection. All I'm saying is, seriously think what you would do with this money, and don't be hypocritical. And don't single out Lil Jon when he's definitely just the latest public installment of extravagant money spenders.

I'm a huge advocate for helping others if you're able to, and giving back. but why are people leaving comments such as "me and my kids are about to get evicted and lil jon is wasting money on bling" or "he needs to give back to the community". maybe it's because HE'S NOT about to get evicted and worked for his money, and can afford to spend it on what he chooses to, instead of paying your rent or mortgage.It seems like some people expect him to help the whole world. He's only one man. Secondly, Lil Jon donated over $250,000 to Hurricane katrina victims, so he does do things to help others. and thirdly, how can you say what good music is? I'm not one of those ppl that love every crunk or snap song that comes on the radio, but Lil jon makes great party music and personally i think he's an extremely talented music maker and producer. but most of you all dont know that, b/c when u hear or see lil jon all you think about is him screaming "yeeeeaahhhh"..

lol # 14 a step away from eviction..u sure can afford the internet! I have nice things not goddy big chains but 2 karots in each ear pretty pricy have a nice car, wear high end clothes and a decent place to lay my head at nite! I work two jobs and go to school to have nice things! so I show them off!
so hell if lil jon wants to buy a damn car made of gold and diamonds why is it our place to judge!! he works hard for his money oh and people he's not a rapper realy! he's more a producer that just yells n shyt! but yea rap now adays mostly everywhere is crap! but up in nyc they still keepin hip-hop alive chi town too!

Well it's funny how you all talk about ignorance and a waste of resources when the tools needed to properly get and maintain wealth are not provided to children where he comes from, (including me). In school they do not teach lessons regarding what to do with your money once you get it. They don't teach about investment and 401K and retirement. They teach you about some fake history that they have created. Who gives a damn about how "Europeans" battled for land. Teach us how to get and keep money, circulate it in our neighborhoods, get loans, and keep excellent credit scores. Ultimately it is what you want; to keep the ignorant ignorant so that you can continue to become wealthy.

It seems like he would want to better his people with that money. It is obvious that blacks are living in the ghettos of America's cities. Why not use the $500,000 to start community projects to better the living conditions in these areas. Or like was mentioned earlier, set up scholarships so they can move out of these ghettos. Remember, the North won the war, we set the slaves free, and this is how you repay us??
