Bell Ranch, Estate of the Day

Today it is all about the land. I received word of this expansive property this morning and had to show it to you. Bell Ranch is 250,000 acres of gorgeous New Mexico land. The classic landscape has served as the backdrop to a variety of Western movies. The ranch is named after the bell-shaped butte on the property. Property comes with the famous Bell Ranch cattle; the Bell Ranch ahs been a working cattle ranch for over 180 years. The ranch is also home to wild turkey, dove, blue quail, deer and antelope. The Canadian River snakes through the property offering creeks and waterhole. The ranch abuts Conchas Lake for fishing and there is a large lake house and boat storage located near the water. The main hacienda has eight bedrooms over 10,382 square feet. The ranch's Hacienda was built in the 1930s and includes a casino The Bell Ranch Headquarters includes a general manager's home of 5,764 square feet, offices and stables. There are also camps located throughout the property and many well-maintained outbuildings that are used in its cattle operation. The ranch has its own museum, stables, bunkhouse, employee housing and ranch equipment, cattle pens, scales, corrals, windmills and wells. There is also an airstrip, hangar and fuel tank. The property is listed at $115 milion, giving it fourth place on my most expensive properties in the U.S. list (behind the $155 million Yellowstone home, the $135 million Saudi prince palace in Colorado and Trump's $125 million listing in Florida.) After the jump, it's almost like having your own private state.

Wasn't this in the Wall Street Journal as part of their Friday "Private Properties" section in the last couple of weeks? The relatively well known property has its own zip code (88441) and is still held by the heirs of the Chicago-based family that acquired it in 1970.
The propert was used for some photo and tv shoots for Marlboro tobacco as well. The ranch has its own website: www.thebellranch.com and there is the www.bellranchsteakhouse.com as well for those wanting something "fresh from the ranch"
