Santa Barbara Olive Company, Estate of the Day

Perhaps you've given up on the California winery dream, too labor intensive, too confusing and the market is crowded with small winemakers. How about the olive company dream? Today's estate in Goleta, California offers you the chance to become the owner of a 101 acre ranch that is home to over 5,000 mature olive trees. It is the location of the Santa Barbara Olive Company, which is now moving their headquarters to Santa Maria. The scenic ranch full of rolling hills has an 8,800 square foot main residence with a pool, spa, game room, music room and four bedrooms. The land also includes warehouses, a guest home and a four-car garage. There are also three acres of Chardonnay vineyard if you aren't quite ready to let that winery fantasy go yet. The home itself is in need of serious decor help but you can't beat the views to the Pacific Ocean. It is listed at $13.5 million. After the jump, palm trees and rattan as a design scheme.

Serious decor help? I expected so much worse when you said that. It really isn't all that bad. Perhaps a country style that neither you nor me would choose, but it is SO much nicer than most people's homes.

Wonderful, not even as expensive as I would have guessed either.

OH YES, IT REALLY IS THAT BAD. THE LAST SUPPER IN THE DINNING ROOM IS A QUIRKEY TOUCH. ATLEAST I HOPE IT WAS MEANT AS A JOKE. IF NOT.... OH DEAR.

But WHY are they selling? What will happen to those beautiful 5,000 olive trees--and to the company? I've been there--it's an incredibly beautiful place. Please give more information.

This estate is truly magnificent. The beauty of the trees, vineyards, rolling hills with cattle and horses is breathtaking. The owners are true visionaries who have turned this 101 acres into a true shangri-la, a beautiful earthly paradise. I have spent many happy times at this property which is not only a business but is a wonderful family estate. Their decor is perfectly suited for their family and friends a warm and inviting home. Decor is one's personal statement not architectural structure and guess what, the owners take their personal possessions once they sell the property.
