Jumpjet, A New Private Jet Membership Service
Ever since the start of Luxist.com a few years ago I have been following the rise of private jet flight for the masses. We've seen the rise of fractional services and small plane services increase dramatically and the newspapers have been full of stories of a future that involves flights that are more taxi cabs of the skies than cattle car bus rides. A new service, Jumpjet, is about to start and it promises private jet travel for a low price. Jumpjet will offer flights on small planes from Citation, Lear, Gulfstream, Hawker, Boeing and others. The flights leave from private avaiation airports in the U.S. starting with 12 cities including New York, Boston, Miami, San Francisco and Seattle. Jumpjet will use a membership system with three levels, silver, gold and platinum that to allowed numbers of flights and guest allowances. Silver and gold members have to book two weeks in advance and platinum members have to book five days or more in advance. Monthly subscriptions start at $1,500 for silver members, $2,800 for gold members, and $4,000 for platinum members. Silver members can book two round-trip flights per month, gold members get up to three round trips per month and platinum members can take up to four round trips per month. Guests and pets fly free. The service officially starts on May 29 but those who join before May 1, 2007 will receive a bonus month of private jet travel for free. It sounds like a great idea for frequent travelers who want to avoid the often painful experience of commercial flight.

Something seems fishy about this...

I have spoken to them several times today, with different reps, asking many different questions. It DOES seem too good to be true. They basically said everything is, the way it seems. Then, I look at the FAQs, and, contrary to what the agents were allowing me to feel was the case, there is some exclusions in the FAQs for coast to coast flights. They also told me on the phone, that, it should be 100% I get a flight I want. So, they are saying, for $750, I can go round trip with 3 other people. Sounds impossible. They DO accept Amex for monthly fees, so, I imagine you are well protected, as usual, by Amex, if something goes wrong, like you can never get a proper reservation, or other things, that prevent you to actually use the service .... hmmmm ....
