Peterson Home, Estate of the Day

If you have watched Dateline on NBC you may be familiar with the case of Michael Peterson, the author who was convicted of his wife's murder after she fell down the stairs in their home. The tawdry tale, which involved the testimony of a gay escort and the mysterious death of another woman in Germany was also a staple on Court TV. The Peterson home in Durham, North Carolina is now on the market. It is a charming nearly 10,000 square foot home which was designed by architect George Watts Carr in 1935. The six-bedroom home is on 3.5 acres and has been completely renovated. It looks utterly sanitized, expanses of white unblemished walls and freshly finished floors. No bedroom shots, alas. It is listed at $2.199 million. After the jump, I'm not going to mention the staircases.

Oh God! They decorated the interior like an ultramodern Manhattan apartment! Considering the original traditional exterior of the house, that's just not right.

I completely agree with John's comment on this page about decorating it in a mid-century style. How stupid! (And Navajo rugs?!) The house screams to be decorated in keeping with the lush classic southern-style mansion that it is.
And I heard the classic rose gardens were ripped out and a japanese-style garden was put in its place. There are houses such a garden would've worked but not this one. Just sad.
*I hope someone buys it who knows how to decorate it and landscape it properly.*
BTW, I do love that furniture and garden style but NOT for this house. It's just wrong.

They should have had it staged. This is just icky.

BOSE!?
They really do have bad taste.
