Chateau Ortolan, Estate of the Day

The Los Angeles-based design group, Landry Design is one of those firms with the ability to create both modern angular glass palaces and ornate stone homes that mimic classics. This home obviously is the latter. Chateau Ortolan is a replica of a Loire Valley chateau located in Malibu just a few lots away from Pacific Coast Highway. You don't get the beautiful high-on-a-hill ocean views that Malibu is famous for but this home has its own charms. It is a four-bedroom home with beamed 30-foot ceilings, a separate master suite, a French country style kitchen and a large motor court entrance. The home also has a round heated saltwater pool. Pretty, but it appears to be located across the street from Malibu High School. It is listed at $6.995 million. After the jump, a very impressive staircase.
