Bulletproof Raincoat
This is one jacket that should have made the live-like-Jack-Bauer gear list because the only thing that can get into it is you. The long black trench is bulletproof, stab-proof and, of course, weatherproof, so no bullets, knives, "hypodermic needles, ice picks, knives and broken bottles " will penetrate it. Think of it as stylish full-body armor. This makes it the sort of jacket that you would want if you regularly tour through war-zones or exceptionally hostile neighborhoods late at night, although it will certainly give you a sense of security no matter where you go. It features two large front pockets and a high-rise collar to block the chill, as well. Price: $2,000.

Coat made for rappers???? lol. How about maybe they made the coat for kids who want to shoot up high schools. Imagine if the kids @ Columbine had these coats. Sounds ridiculous huh? Yep! Just like most of the previous statements made. :o)
Bart Mar 14th 2007 9:55AM
Ok,
Let's put things in perspective here. I for one like the idea of the coat, just wish it were more affordable.
As for the asses yackin' about Hip Hop & Rap music. I live in Southwest Florida and we get more of that and the whole "gangbanger" scene from dumbass white boys (and girls) than anyone else. I say what I've got to say and don't give a damn what others think, but I keep it in perspective. Just ask the so-called "bangers" in my neighborhood, this is one property they have respect for. As for the country music remark, girl I've got Black kinfolk that listen to nothing else, so get off your tall pony.
Just a redneck Indians thoughts.
Anyway, like I said I like the coat.
taura Mar 14th 2007 10:01AM
You know, I like the coat too, and I too wish it was more affordable. It's those of us who are innocent bystanders that actually need a coat like this, Right?
That Girl Mar 14th 2007 10:25AM
Oh, I forgot to mention to Warren that yes I'm white and from the "ghetto", NOT on welfare, and being supported and put through college by my black husband who not only listens to hip/hop or rap, but works M-F from 8a.m.-6p.m. You never know he may be your manager. So, will you be the next WHITE Psycho to go in and shoot up your place of employment.
Sorry this does not pertain to the raincoat, but I had to get that off my chest.
Kay Mar 14th 2007 10:09AM
The first thought when I read the article about the jacket was, this wouuld be a great gift for my daughter in Chicago to keep the wind and rain and cold weather off during the Spring months. But then I looked at the picture of it and it looks more like a man's jacket. I am wondering if they offer it in a woman's style. I think it is a good idea, protecting against not only violence, but the elements, and with the way crime and odd weather patterns have been increasing. I think the cost is way out of my price range however.

It,s very strange,I was reading about a bulletproof raincoat and people start bitching about Rappers.
Beside that there music sucks why?

This is the perfect example as to why God put race/culture's on separate continents'. He knew that we would never be able to get along. There would always be that "ONE" bad apple who would spoil it for everyone. Why even give away your power to another? Don't you know that person has won already by controlling your emotions? Ignore the negative and enjoy the positive. Now besides all that ... what do you think about the coat?
DC Mar 14th 2007 10:30AM
Rapping is a balck thing not a racist remark, but fact, who are 95% of rap artists? black
What do they sing about ? Drugs, money, denegrating women, killing each other, it's very sad. The black community is imploding with less than 30% of the households having a dad at home.
Who would need a bullet proof jacket?
Someone that is getting shot at and can afford it.
What tiny group of people seems to be getting shot at with regularity and likes to carry guns?
Black rappers. Its not racist, its fact. No doubt this will be the latest craze and status symbol with this group and thier wannabes.
Rap is crap.
mike Mar 14th 2007 10:51AM
what's the big deal with with this discussion being anti or pro hip-hop/rap. it's kind of funny(not sad) to see the same thing happen here that happens in rap, people trying to one up each other asserting THEIR platform(by any means?) nothing is wrong with this discussion; although the people who have a handle on morality scolding everyone can only assert there platform in school; you guys and gals are boring as your angry tirades about rightness are old.
by the way Tupac is not Malcolm X ... and try listening to coltrane the last heavyweight rapper!
Katie Mar 14th 2007 10:49AM
#1 Wow that is the most ignorant generalization I have heard in a long time. I just wonder how many hip hop shootings you usually "see" (no matter where they are aiming)As for the sports team logos...I guess maybe 8 year old boys should be chastised for what they wear too. This jacket made me think about how it could protect my father who works in law enforcement not some opportunity to go off on some ti raid about rap culture. To everyone angry about the way this discussion went...someone said something that needed to be addressed. It happens oh well. If there is a sudden increase in rappers shot in the face then we might have a problem.

The site for ordering one of these raincoats is:
http://www.spycatcheronline.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=380
The weight is 3 kilos and the discription is included on the web page.
Instead of all these off-key comments, maybe you all should read the article first. Would save a lot of the comments and questions.
Katie Mar 14th 2007 11:05AM
I am just glad I dont have to worry about getting hit with an ice pick anymore...
Margaret Dykes Mar 14th 2007 11:30AM
Except for the military--why would good research money be used for this? If Hip-Hop artists choose to live a violent lifestyle then whats to stop them ebing shot in the head?
This sort of thing burns my cookies. HOw much research money went into this raincoat? Why couldn't it go to cancer researsh?
Melissa Mar 14th 2007 11:56AM
jacket comes in mens Euro. sizes only... weighs about 6.6 lbs. will protect against up to a .9mm bullet and most stab injuries ( just don't have someone practice throwing knives or shooting arrows at you as it will only protect up to a certain veloicity)also its probably not used in Iraq because its hot enough there already, and wearing something that heavy that doesn't allow air to circulate on the body is probably not the best idea... Unless you live in a very violent or high crime area.... or are just really paranoid, and don't want to or can't move to a safer area.... save your money....
As far as the individuals who made the negative comments about ethnicity and musical genera... You are just ignorant and extremely narrow minded. Your race and music prefrence have no correlation with being prone to commit an act of violence. Rap music is not the only genera that glorifies violent acts. Geographical location has no correlation with music prefrence. Also not all violent crimes get reported, nor do they get equil media coverage
Jeff Mar 14th 2007 11:57AM
The coat is interesting but nothing really new. If I recall correctly it was being sold through a "spy shop" in London marketing to corporate security types for executives traveling in hostile areas. It is rated to stop handgun ammo only so it would be about worthless for our troops. I believe it weighs about twenty pounds.
Stephanie Mar 14th 2007 12:37PM
It weighs 3kilo, per the site, so about 5lbs or so, nto bad. Take a look at the site, its wayyyyyyy to expenseive for my tastes. The site tells you what kinda stuff it protects against, try READING and looking at the link before asking questions,s heesh; are all of you THAT lazy.
The coat looks nice, but, for $2000, it better come with a man; at least as a body guard.
Debbie Morgan Mar 14th 2007 12:29PM
The coat is great but who can afford it?! There are more affordable products for protection such as stun guns for only $39.97 and a great ring that packs a power punch of pepper spray that will bring any unsuspecting attacker to their knees. Until I can buy the coat, I'll go to officialsafetyandsecurity.com to get the things I need to help me feel safe when I'm out and about.
Joan Mar 14th 2007 12:33PM
I like it. When it becomes affordable, (or I get rich) I'll buy one for my brother in law to wear while he is hunting.
AL Mar 14th 2007 1:03PM
Bulletproof Raincoat, 10. Human ability to avoid politics and stick to discussion at hand, 0. Opportunity to turn these comments into a stand-up comedy routine...priceless.
Debbie Mar 14th 2007 1:11PM
Until I can afford this coat, I'll go to http://officialsafeyandsecurity.com to find cheaper products to keep me safe. They have stun guns on sale all the time and a ring that squirts pepper spray. It's on sale too and you get a free pepper pen with it! It's a great site!
