Bulletproof Raincoat
This is one jacket that should have made the live-like-Jack-Bauer gear list because the only thing that can get into it is you. The long black trench is bulletproof, stab-proof and, of course, weatherproof, so no bullets, knives, "hypodermic needles, ice picks, knives and broken bottles " will penetrate it. Think of it as stylish full-body armor. This makes it the sort of jacket that you would want if you regularly tour through war-zones or exceptionally hostile neighborhoods late at night, although it will certainly give you a sense of security no matter where you go. It features two large front pockets and a high-rise collar to block the chill, as well. Price: $2,000.

Why are you guys talking about hip-hop culture? Shouldn't you be talking about the coat...? O.o
The coat seems cool. Looks like something that would be in a spy movie. I'd get it just because it's high-tech. It'd be nice if it was a bit longer though, like ankle length. It'd be like the Matrix.

I am going to have to agree that after reading the article...before I read the comments, I thought who would want to wear this jacket? Perhaps angry rappers who are constantly getting shot at in the streetsI would include those getting killed every 5 secs in ghettos all across America but they can't afford it, that is why I assumed the rappers, because they can afford it. Why would they NOT want to wear it? Who gets assulted more than anyone for leaving the club.... bad drug deals....putting someone down in rap lyrics....or trying to pick up someones girl? Just saying.

I have just one question. What does being black have to do with anything? Someone mentions rap music and all of a sudden it becomes an attack on black people. You don't have to be black to be a rapper or a hip hop artist. The focus of this whole "blog" was supposed to be on the jacket, not on hip hop or rap or someones race. I don't understand why that always has to come into discussions. We are all human beings. We may look different on the outside but we are all the same inside. So what does it matter? Talk about the subject at hand - the jacket.

The coat would be a good thing up here in Canada where we have no right of self defense. We'd probably have to register them though.

Hun...the jacket has to have a MARKET!!!!!

Wow, some people here got some real issues. This is an advertisement about a new high tech jacket. It's a bit expensive, but for all the features it's worth it. People are using this advertisement to advertise their personal issues with hip hop culture or any other issues that they can't find someone to talk to about. I don't understand why you would list all the things you don't that bother you in life in response to an ad about a jacket. It's pretty weird... Get a psychiatrist or make a friend and tell your problems to him/her.

1. I want to clarify that HIP-HOP is not being intertwined with BLACK cultures, because we all know that the most successful artist, Eminem (however he spells it), has spoke of killing more than Tupac and Biggie combined. At least when they were speaking of it, as WRONG as it was, it wasn’t about murdering their own wife, the mother of their child! That’s sick…and how many kids were killed imitating this rapper? And what about the High School shooting, what kind of music were they imitating?
2. I too hate the way GANSTER rap promotes dangerous life styles such a drugs, promiscuous sex, and violence. Foolishly, it’s supporters imitate these ‘plays’ they see and listen too…forgetting that if the THUG life was as grand as they portray it in videos, than why are they rappers and not drug dealers themselves? Why did 50 Cents and other’s move out of the HOOD? The same hoods that they are making worse with their music? THERE IS NO MONEY IN THE LIFE STYLES THEY PROMOTE! They are no better than these corrupted governments. They make their money off of the poverty of others. Some governments destroy for oil…Gangster rappers are destroying neighborhoods and communities for gold! It’s no different!
$2,000 a pop will only protect the wallets of those who can afford it, including rappers…but not the victims of their music…they are too poor!

first off, i dont think that all blacks are rappers or gangsters or drug users because theyre all not. I know quite a few blacks that are good workers. Its not just blacks or hispanics or even some whites, and its not so much about race as it is class. The lower, poor, ghetto class, who have the money, if they have the money, might buy this jacket as civillian body armor. While i agree that rap has already pretty much destroyed and totally demoralized society, i dont believe that the only people to buy this jacket are thugs and blacks, because i think poor ghetto, criminals can only achieve a jacket worth $2000 if they steal it, or are drug dealers, with a few exceptions of good, earnest people in the ghetto. what i think the manufacturers and distributors and merchants who sell the jacket should have a background check on who buys it, just to make sure it doesnt go into the wrong hands. not all blacks are criminals, but most ghetto inhabitants are thugs and happen to listen to rap or hiphop. So its not the blacks who are the enemies but rap and its Godless culture. Thats just my own opinion. But the jacket is neat, and i would like to get one myself, out of curiosity.

How does a raincoat turn into a debate about hip hop? How about trying to stay focused! Maybe law enforcement can use the coat. Or rednecks at the trailer park. Or predominately white schools that always has some brat shooting the students.

Wow, I thought this was about a trench coat. I don't of any rappers who wear smart frocks like this one. I looks like it was designed for executives who travel alone in potentially dangerous areas; maybe diamond dealers in nyc. Did anybody notice the WHite man in the picture? You don't advertise to Black Rappers using a White model! Clearly, it is not meant for those people. How did all this talk about hip-hop come up in the conversation? SARAH, your a smart women. Warren, do us a favor; go to a nice porn site and jerk-off. Relax!!!

Just a message to all the Pro Arian protectors of your precious race. Your right. Let them continue killing each other, and poisoning their minds and spirits with that non-sense. For you see, while all of you keep focusing and fearing all of them we continue to grow in number. There has been an awakening among my people. Sure there are still plenty of uncivilized savages that act purely on instinct much like the common animal, but there are a few of us that have figured it out. So go ahead and continue with you racist fears and hatred because it serves as a nice distraction while we continue to grow. The “rappers, gangsters and thugs should be the least of your concerns.

All this hate over a coat. I can't stand it. To my way of thinking, anyone who thinks their life could be in danger of being shot, knifed, ice picked etc., should try and buy one and wear it. There's enough killing, muggings, rapes, etc to go around for all cultures. If the coat helps, wear it.

Those who detest, deplore and recognize rap as a degrading influence in American culture are absolutely correct. It's impact will be felt for years to come by those who have needlessly lost their lives, dropped out of school in order to pursue the mirage of wealth through the music culture or drug dealing --- and who lack the impulse control to delay their gratification for "bling."
John Hoffman Mar 9th 2007 3:19PM
Ralph Garcia Knows Nothing about rap culture. and In case you haven't seen the news lately, other people besides rappers do commit crimes. You Views are both racist and very close-minded towards people who mostly just want to hear good music. Stop Writing your opinions where others can see that they're Stupid. Stick to a Diary.

I think it would be great for our service people overseas. I think it should be used for making the uniforms as opposed to having them wearing raincoats on their already burdened bodies. God bless our troops overseas.
mya Mar 9th 2007 12:29PM
what's so lame is that everybody who is making hip-hop to be a bad thing is sure quoting the songs and to quote something means you have to listen to it right? Stop being so damn petty.....country songs and pop songs talk about sex..."Hit me baby one more time", "whose bed have your boots been under?" (hip-hop version:who else you screwin?) So wayne garrison, kick rocks and get a grip. No one makes you listen to hip-hop. It is a genre that transcends worldwide. That's because everywhere you go on this earth has people struggling to survive in the "ghetto". And usually that's the message. So what you throw some sex and murder in it. That happens everywhere too.

Sweet raincoat. Love it! I will absolutely pick one up before my next trip outside in a broken-beerbottle storm. :)
As for the spelling and grammar in all of the other comments- atrocious. A quick lesson:
THEIR - [adj.] The possessive form of "they."
THEY'RE - contraction of "they are."
THERE - [adverb] in or at that place

The first thing i thought of when I saw this jacket was that it will help people who are "mistakingly" (they thought he was reaching for a gun) shot and kill by the police. I won't waste the time to read everybody's opinions. They're are deeper things to read about, like the wrongful abduction, torture of Malachi Z. York El.
Nick Mar 9th 2007 12:52PM
People are friggin ignorant. They always wanna play a race card when their suburban upper class system doesnt follow them wherever they go. First off i'm white, and i'm middle class, and I think whoever posted crap about this being the next 'gangbanger hiphop attire' is racist and ignorant. Did you know that the MAJORITY of murders are actually from white people? And did you also know that 97% of serial killers are white? Quit playin a race card when all we're talking about is a trench coat, its not needed and its not wanted. This is a bad ass coat and you want to b*tch about something then b*tch about why george bush isnt equiping every single one of our men and women in iraq INCLUDING CONTRACTORS with one of these.
Drake Mar 9th 2007 12:51PM
I think it's awful how people say stupid things about this hip-hop/rap stuff. It is music. When you grow up in the ghetto, you can't control or stop that. You were raised there and that's a part of you. Some don't know any better. I bet everyone that has posted on here listens and enjoys rock. Well a whole lot of rock artists do drugs, but no one says anything about them. If you grew up in the ghetto and all of your friends were there you wouldn't ever ditch them, they can't just bail on their roots. It is a part of you. Have any of you that are bashing hip-hop/rap ever heard of rapper getting killed lately? No. The only ones in a long time were Biggie and Tupac. I think Warren Garrison should go to h*** for saying that's 2 down, how many more til their all dead. What is wrong with you? Tupac and Biggie were great men. If you listen to their lyrics they have real and true meaning. Tupac does a lot more than Biggie, but still. People look up to both of them, and you bash them. Tupac raps about heaven and God, but you diss him. He also raps about better days and peace. I guess you don't want that. I just think it is sad that people say this. A war is going on, we should be together, not talking about killing each other. And then most americans get pissed when other countries stereotype us and say we are and greedy. Well don't stereotype others if you hate being part of a stereotype. I'm sorry for this, but I just think we should all come together as one instead of doing what is happening above on here. Just talk about the dang coat and if you like it and think it is a good idea. Not about who should wear this. Some people would find comfort in this coat, especially if they are trying to make it and work in a dangerous area and they have to walk back from work in the dark. I think the price should be lowered, and I think they should have a longer version also.
