Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore Alinghi Team Chronograph Watch

The latest watch from Audemars Piguet is the Royal Oak Offshore Alinghi Team Chronograph. The watches showcase carbon, taking their inspiration from the Class America boats which use carbon fiber for lightness. The watches use a selfwinding movement with a power reserve of up to 60 hours. Nautically inspired details include a red-rimmed six-hour counter at 6 o'clock, the twenty-minute counter at 9 o'clock that has an openworked hand shaped like a ship's prow and the Alinghi logo that takes the place usually reserved for the 3 o'clock numeral. The countdown aperture in the upper right-hand part of the dial counts off the minutes prior to the start of a regatta and gradually becomes red as it nears the moment when the boats cross the start line. The 44mm case has a forged carbon bezel and is available with a case of forged carbon (a series of 1,300), 18K pink gold (a series of 600), or platinum (a series of 107). I haven't always been a fan off the Royal Oak watches before but I rather like the rugged carbon look here even if the watch does seem a bit bulky. More shots of the various versions after the jump.
