NightCove is a new concept in "alarm" clocks that dispenses with all the severity of the traditional models. Just one thing that would be important to correct regarding the post: all the aspects you mention are correct except that NightCove doesn't 'fade(s) in and out during the night to correspond with REM activity'.
NightCove doesn't produce light while sleeping but only during the 'falling-asleep phase' and the 'waking-up phase'. Other room environment parameters (like temperature, air) can be adjusted during sleep but not light. Light during the night could indeed have a negative impact on the biological clock.
