Beads and Pieces by Hella Jongerius is part of a larger "Design With Conscience" project that was put together by the nonprofit Aid to Artisans organization. The project is one of the many ways that Aid to Artisans provides practical assistance to craftspeople living in economically impoverished areas. Beads and Pieces, for example, was handcrafted in one of the largest cocoa-growing areas of Peru using a traditional Peruvian pottery technique. The black ceramic works are accented with light pink beading that uses "motifs from the indigenous Shipibo tribe." Prices range from $132-$682.

Keeping in mind that 25% of the Peruvians have to live from less than 2US$ per day I wonder how much those artisans earn for this bowl. (=US$0.68???)
