I guess that's not terribly unique... but that's only half of the story.

Since my boyfriend and I were at the beginning of our relationship (maybe one, two weeks max)I wasn't sure where we stood, and if I should get him anything. So for a week, I would flip-flop between yes and no. On Valentine's Day, I figured that I should, so I went out to buy a box of chocolates and a leash(for him to use, not wear). I got the chocolates no problem. When I went to get the leash, I got on the wrong bus, got back five minutes before he came over, and had no leash. So the next day, I hit up the day after sales, and got him a pair of boxers with hearts and a PS2 controller.

Jess

Comments on Luxist Giveaway: Just In Case Condom Compact

My girlfriend at the time was constantly asking me what she should get me for Valentine's Day. I told her she was my present and all she needed was a little bow. So when I got to school on Valentine's she was wearing this amazing dress she made. It was red and black it wrapped around her like ribbon (it's hard to explain as it did this great criss cross thing) and on the back it was held together with a big bow. All day she got compliments on the dress, it nearly got her sent home as it was extremely tight and *hem* low cut. Anyway at the end of the evening it turns out she'd bought some new underwear and wrapped them in the same fabric to match the dress... I hope that's clean enough... Anyway I have to say that's the best Valentine's present I ever unwrapped.

Ellory Conic

Comments on Luxist Giveaway: Just In Case Condom Compact

Last year for Valentine's Day my husband and I decided to dress up nice and go to this really swanky restaurant on the Seattle waterfront. We decided that the new clothes (including a pearl necklace and nice cufflinks) and dinner would be enough of a gift to each other that we didn't need to buy additional gifts. Well my husband's friend and his girlfriend ended up joining us for dessert and when two 25-year-old boys with alcohol in them get together it can get a little crazy. One thing led to another and the friend dared my husband to go jump in the water in his nice new clothes, swim out to this huge yacht (The Phantom) docked about 100 feet away, and swim back - all in front of the rich couples poring in and out of the fancy restaurant. The resulting photo of my husband dripping wet, shivering, and looking ridiculous standing next to me in my nice dress is the best (and silliest) Valentine's Day gift ever. We had a good reason to heat things up when we got home, though!

Nicole

Comments on Luxist Giveaway: Just In Case Condom Compact

Mine is plain and simple...My wife told me we were pregnant. When I opened it, it was a romantic poem/riddle to find a store and ask the person behind the counter if they were holding something for me. When I did, the person handed me a bag with a present in it, and another letter directing me to another store. This continued for another 3-4 stores all over the mall with another letter and another present at each, and when I was done, she was done with her interview and was waiting for me at the last store.

Best present I ever received. I got a handful of little notecards that were blank inside and wrote messages on each one. There was one on the front door with instructions for him to leave the stress of his day outside, take a few deep breaths and then enter. Another card was waiting for him on the table to take off his shoes, empty his pockets of all the clutter and proceed to card 3. I had flower petals and Hershey Kisses on the floor leading to my bedroom. At card 3 was a little gift for him. Card 4 was on my bedroom door with another set of instructions before entering the room. Inside the room, candles were lit everywhere and dinner was served … real dinner/food. Dessert came later … :-)

2contribute

Comments on Luxist Giveaway: Just In Case Condom Compact

My favorite gift was a whole bag of nice chocolatees.

Charlie

Comments on Luxist Giveaway: Just In Case Condom Compact

My wife acted like she'd forgotten Valentine's Day - which was my first clue something was up: no girl ever forgets Valentine's Day, right? Then a week later she casually said "Let's go downtown for dinner tonight" and she surprised me with tickets to the Harlem Globetrotters. I'd seen them when I was a kid and I had mentioned how much fun they were and even though she isn't that into basketball or goofy comedy she was clapping and laughing right along. Our seats were close up front so when they came around with the buckets of water we got sprayed a little and she didn't even complain. Partway through the 'game' she excused herself to the restroom and came back with a sweatshirt for me that I had admired when we walked in, but insisted was too expensive. It was great to feel so pampered and now I get why girls make such a fuss over Valentine's Day. I think I'll do the same thing for her this year but surprise her with tickets to Swan Lake instead. Wish me luck sitting through a 3 hour ballet and acting like I enjoy it.

Justin

Comments on Luxist Giveaway: Just In Case Condom Compact

A really close friend of mine and I had been flirting around a relationship for months - both of us were interested, but neither of us wanted to make any sort of move. Well, Valentines Day was coming up and I knew neither of us were going to have anyone else to share it with, so I decided to splurge a bit and make what could have been an uneventful Valentines Day for her into one she'd never forget. Since neither of us had anyone else, the week before V-Day we decided to "forget it ever existed" and just hang out that night.

Her and I went and did some of our Christmas shopping together, so I got a feel for what she liked gift-wise, and with that I started my gift giving. Instead of just going to her place and watching a movie, like we had planned, I called her about 2 hours before I was supposed to get there, and told her to get dressed, cause we were going out to dinner at this little out-of-the-way place I know in downtown Pittsburgh. I arrive at her door with a dozen roses - well, a baker's dozen actually. I had ordered a preserved rose tipped in gold (before they were available everywhere online) from a place in Texas and took it to the florist to have it as the centerpiece of a bouquet of a dozen real roses. The thud from her jaw hitting the floor could have been heard for miles. Hehe.

She takes her time putting the roses in water before we leave for dinner, but as we're walking to the car I conveniently drop my keys so she can get in the car first - because her second gift was waiting on her seat - I had driven about 40 miles from my place to go to her favorite candle store (Illuminations) and got her her favorite candle, an amazing vanilla-scented deal... not expensive, but her favorite. Of course, I get a huge hug before she even gets into the car.

We get downtown for dinner, get seated immediately, and she unfolds her napkin to find a jewelry box - I had dropped it off there earlier in the day so it could be placed before we got there. It was nothing extremely expensive, just a small necklace with her birthstone in it, however, I had spent like 3 weeks on the phone and faxing a goldsmith in California designing it myself (I still have the sketches to prove it). We never did end up dating or anything, but she reminds me every year how that Valentine's Day was the best she's ever had, and that I sorta ruined her expectations of how guys should treat her on that day.

Dan
