After Balenciaga came out with their
$100,000 metallic leggings, there was nowhere for the women's legging industry to go without changing materials and moving away from the easy, form fitting standard that makes leggings what they are. So, designers have
moved their leggings onto men. Marni's brand new men's collection for this coming fall heavily features men's leggings. They're made of microfiber cotton and wool, have bottom stirrup straps and come in a variety of colors. Marni is describing them as "sophisticated," but it seems unlikely that too many men are going to dive right in to this extremely form fitting type of clothing for casual or evening wear.

Guys have already worn these in centuries gone by. Robin Hood, the court jester, and those sorts of fellows

Men won't wear them in he states, but the men in Europe a far more experimental and fashion forward. This is a good solid collection from Marni and offers something for the more manly man too.

Karl-Heinz, you are beautiful and angular; and if you were a gas, you'd be inert.
Leggings are soooo Dieter.

Leggings for men is not a new trend - one that's been around for years. It's time to get over the body image constraints and go for the comfort. Just wear them. Leggings are perfect casual wear for women AND men. Having worn leggings for years, I'm aware of people's comments both negative and very positive. After all, it’s not the leggings on the man but the man in the leggings. Everyone looks good in leggings and some people look great!
If more people, women and men, wear leggings then it will just be another apparel choice. At one time denim jeans were worn only by miners digging for gold. Now they are everywhere.
So never say never - when you do decide to wear leggings, choose a well made pair - not with cotton fibers that bag out over time but a high tech fiber that retains it shape. Go for the comfort and support. Leggings that go to the ankle look better than capri style that chop the leg. Plus the full length leggings support you from your ankle to your waist and give you an energetic lift. Laugh, Live, Love & Enjoy! Check out www.UnJeans.com

Leggings for men have been around for a few centuries. Men happened to be wearing them in the colonial times and medieval times There were no jeans or sweat pants then Also even in the 1700
& 1800's they were worn by men. Look at pictures in the early industrial era ( 1920-1930)or so, short knickers and white or brown tights were worn by men. In the 60s and 70s leggings were worn by skiers, 80's rock musicians like David Lee Roth of Van Halen had worn them. People in the ska and punk scene have been wearing them for the last 15 years or so. Also, in the last 15 years, men have been wearing them for exercise, biking, rollerblading, wrestling, and the most recent olympic swimming they have similar apparel also. THey have been selling online and in specialty sporting goods stores like Big 5, Champs, Sports Authority, Sportmart and others. I have already seen a few guys around in the local malls and shopping centers here in the SO CAL LA market already wearing with basketball uniform, with basketball length shorts and even in a few schools. Also not to mention, I remember seeing on tv when watching a LaCrosse match. The team had worn them.
GO GUYS GO! Once they see them with shorts the women wont care to much. Even footed styles in cotton we can get by with if you try.

Wow! Leggings for men! That's way fashionable! But unfortunately, I would rather wear Calvin Kleins leggings from his Fashion show For Spring 2007. In fact, I hope they get in shops and the such soon. I enjoy wearing a blend of spandex, nylons and the such on my legs! Very comfortable and relaxing!

Men comfortable with thier sexuality, have a excellent hygeine, don't have a problem shaving thier legs and wish to live the lifestyle of a metrosexual.......would enjoy wearing leggings! I am completely for the Calvin Klein Spring 2007 leggings look! It's time to let men have a chance to express themselves and not feel so restrained by societal expections of what a man or woman should be like. Wear what is right for you and ignore those that narrow minded!

I'm a 23 year old metrosexual male. I personally think leggings are a wonderful concept at that! I think females need to stop whining and feeling akward about men who want to wear leggings! "Gender is nothing more than a physical construct." It has nothing to do with what sex they are. Both men and women can and do actually percieve the world in similar ways. A man doesn't always like to wear heavy, thick and dark apparel. We too enjoy the luxuries of lfe like silk and nylon. Clearly a man that is well built and assertive like most men, but perhaps is better groomed and enjoys wearing leggings doesn't mean he is any less of a man. A man or woman is determined based on how kind, helpful and positive we are toward others, not what we eat, wear, sleep in, or how we act like outside of these pathetic gender roles created my society that something thought up as being the ONLY way. It simply doesn't work that way. Individuals are very complex living beings with mixed emotions, new developing feelings about ourselves and others, and our own need to be distinctive among others. In conclusion, open-mindedness and the ability to let change occur is not a punishment but a gift to express oneself and enjoy life on higher and newer levels. Judge not another and they won't judge you!
Now for all the men out there. Give it a try if you choose. Fear of rejection means you are dependent on what others think and want of you.
