As a young man he sowed his wild oats but he took care of his career, both music and film, and even with his early smoking and drinking, seemed to lead a healthy life to a ripe old age. He certainly stayed away from the "live fast, die young" lifestyle. Fame isn't what most people imagine it to be. Not nearly so.

I've heard stories, some of them very unkind..and maybe they are true. But the one story that may tell more about the man then any other was the time he was to play at the SANDS in Vegas. He, Dino and Sammy came into the hotel but they would not let Sammy stay there. Sammy said it was ok, he'd just get a room someplace else. Now this was LONG befor "civil rights' so that was just how it was....exept for Frank. He looked the manager straight in the face and said "You got no room for Sammy...you got no room for me too" He turned around and walked out. Whole company, lock stock and barrel walked out the door. Frank didn't stay there, he didn't play there and it cost the Sands millions.

Now I'm not sure but I think he later bought the place. But the point is, he took a huge risk with no possible pay back..except for the love of his friend, who later at Sammy's funeral, Frank called "Brother".
