This 1985 Chrysler Town and Country would normally be worth less than $1,000, but throw in the fact that it belonged to Frank Sinatra and suddenly the price leaps to close to $40,000. The car has 77,777 miles on it and is currently located in England. The current owner bought it in Palm Springs in 2004. This car is considered prized to collectors because it may have been the last car Sinatra ever drove. It's probably also the least sexy car he ever drove. It is being sold by the
Autotrader in England.

This confirms what a sensible man Sinatra became in his later years.
As a young man he sowed his wild oats but he took care of his career, both music and film, and even with his early smoking and drinking, seemed to lead a healthy life to a ripe old age. He certainly stayed away from the "live fast, die young" lifestyle. Unlike Elvis, Jimmmy Hendrix, JIm Morrison, Curt Cobain and so many others.

You're absolutely right. Wow, this car still looks good, even the exterior car parts are still beautiful. Well, for those people who love Frank Sinatra should be hurry enough to buy this before anyone get it.

MR.SINATRA, HE TRULY IS THE CHAIRMAN. HE DROVE A STATION WAGON, GOOD FOR HIM, HE ALSO DONATED MILLIONS OF DOLLARS AND TIME TO THE CHILDREN'S FOUNDATION. AS FOR WHEN HE WAS YOUNGER, LET'S FACE IT THE MEDIA DIDN'T LEAVE HIM ALONE, THEY TORMENTED HIM, ANYONE WOULD BE ANNOYED IF THEY WERE FOLLOWED AND PHOTGRAPHED EVERY MOVE. GE WAS A GOOD, GOOD GUY.

Knowing that Mr. Sinatra was an avid train collector I can understand why he drove a station wagon. I myself grew up with my parents having a station wagon until my dad retired from the military. I truly remember riding in our Red Ford station wagon and going from one side of the states to the other. Loved it!!!!!!!!!!!

the seller's web site says the car was used for incognito trips, so it was selected especially because it's a very un-frank kind of car. makes sense ... he could drive around with a cap on and just look like an old gramps. good that he and mrs. s still liked to get out and about. frank is a legend for all time.

Frank Sinatra was the best singer of all time. In his youth, he was young, wild and sexy. These are attributes any singer would love. But-he had a voice that went with that. In his later years he became a kind, generous man and gave money to a great worthy organizations. He was great man and a great entertainer.

I never saw any thing special about Frank Sinarta or his singing. He was no one special. Just a wannabe who wanted to have all of the women and booze he wanted and left a nice wife to do it. Liked to be known as one of the mob. What is so important about that? And any thing that any so called star gives for charity is taken off of their taxes. So much for Hollywood. It is just a snakes pit stop. They make some good movies but mostly end up with bad morals. And do not kid your selves. They LOVE the papparizzi.

The Greatest singer in American history would never be pulled over by a cop in this incognito vehicle.

I agree with you Eleanor 100%

For the most part, Mr. Sinatra did settle down in the later years. He LOVED those grandkids! Getting an "very unfrank type of car" is a wonderful way for him to be able to travel about incognito. Frank Sinatra was the top singer of his time, and that was in THE DAY. He was a charitable man. Yes, there is a tax write-off but many who CAN give to charity do not. I think he was a very generous individual. I have heard he tried to help the old "down & out on their luck" stars out of financial muck. And it could be said (regarding the Cosa Nostra) that if you are Italian, you identify with Italian ways. He was great friends with Dino, and Dino was very friendly with Duke Wayne. I see nothing wrong with Frank Sinatra! When compared with singers and stars of today...we don't see them of their ilk today. May Mr. Sinatra rest in peace. He will never be forgotten.

I think he got this car for the TV ads he did for Chrysler in the 80's. He had some much more elegant cars including a 1956 Lincoln Mark II, a 1958 Cadillac Eldorado & a 1962 Dual Ghia (custom made to order)of which less than a dozen still exist

He was FRANK SINATRA, enough said..thank you Frank...

This one was for running the dead bodies to the desert to be "disposed" of.

Anyone consider that he bought this for his employees to use around the house-going to the store, taking a lawn mower for repair, etc... I mean can you really picture Frank toting around town in a station wagon instead of his customary limo?
Peter Cullari Jan 20th 2007 10:33AM
For the folks that say Frank Sinatra was a wannabe, your head must be stuck in the sand. There was no greater vocalist in American history. When you look at all the great singer's of the world, like Julio lglesias,The great Opera artists and yes, even hip hop artists, they all love Sinatra. his diction, his breath control and yes, his great style, he was a signature voice. He was the standard, by all of the singer's of today subscribe to. There are so few singers who can walk up to a mic and art comes out, it is overdubbing and synthesis. You may not like the man, but, don't make any mistakes. When Sinatra steps between the white lines, He is Babe Ruth of the music world. l think that is exactly why he was so great. He could go out and drink and have an all nighter with the buddies and then, step into the recording booth and do something like, l'm a Fool To Want You, or the greatest rendition l have ever heard, Ole Man River. Sinatra was no wannabe. All the rest were Sinatra wannabe's. He will NEVER be replicated.

You really thing he cruised town in that? I live in the same city as he did. I saw him around town and he drove his blue jaguar. He probably let staff drive that car.
Laurence Feb 8th 2007 10:30AM
Francis was no "Wannabe". He was a superstar long before the pharse was even thought of. How long has it been since he passed? His 1940's recordings are now on CDs! Music from 60 years ago and it's being re released on the most up to date medium. Some "wannabe"!
Fame isn't what most people imagine it to be. Not nearly so.
I've heard stories, some of them very unkind..and maybe they are true. But the one story that may tell more about the man then any other was the time he was to play at the SANDS in Vegas. He, Dino and Sammy came into the hotel but they would not let Sammy stay there. Sammy said it was ok, he'd just get a room someplace else. Now this was LONG befor "civil rights' so that was just how it was....exept for Frank. He looked the manager straight in the face and said "You got no room for Sammy...you got no room for me too" He turned around and walked out. Whole company, lock stock and barrel walked out the door. Frank didn't stay there, he didn't play there and it cost the Sands millions.
Now I'm not sure but I think he later bought the place. But the point is, he took a huge risk with no possible pay back..except for the love of his friend, who later at Sammy's funeral, Frank called "Brother".
I think that says a lot.

I have been reading the comments about Frank and Frankly a few of them are far fetched and ridiculous. Frank didn't do anything more than the stars of today are doing. I am not saying it was right, but that's what stars do. Yes he left his wife and three children for Ava Gardner, which I find disgusting too, but the fact of the matter is, Frank Sinatra was and is the Best Singer of all time. More Singers try to imitate him more than any other entertainer. No one can sing a song like Frank and no matter how good they are, they never will.
