For years people have inscribed the band of a ring but now it is possible to personalize the diamond too. Dalumi Diamonds has a new system called
Tattoo Your Diamond that allows you to engrave a personal message along the girdle (the belt around the diamond). The message is done with a laster and can never be erased. You sign your chosen message in your own handwriting for inscription on parchment paper. The diamond goes to the IGI lab and is returned with a photograph of the engraved message on the girdle. The Tattoo Your Diamond website has a virtual diamond you can put a message on as I've done in the picture here.

I can think of a few dozen different ways to spend my money on, than a diamond tattoo.
Dennis Jan 18th 2007 9:32AM
I wonder if they can do this with fakes? Makes a lot more sense. I wouldn't spend a lot on a diamond for my woman. I think it's just too much, and makes you a magnet for a criminal.

I agree, to each their own.
And as for the 2.5 carat well I must agree with Jewel. M... was it absolutely necessary to state your diamond size? Umm...no a simple "I do not agree with lasering" would have sufficed. In the future remember not to mention your diamond size unless, specifically asked. Otherwise, you WILL come off as being pretentious. In this day & age 2.5 is considered mediocre anyway. Unless you're Liz Taylor & own her 69.42 carat....now that's impressive and definitely gives you bragging rights.
In closing I like the way you think Rob! God Bless!

To the envious people on here...I feel sorry for people like you. Frank you wouldn't know your ass from your elbow and well...Jewel..your'e just sad.
Thank you Jessie for being kind and intelligent. Frank is clueless.. My stone is a flawless and it is magnificent. My Fiance' is a businessman from South Africa and it was purchased through Debeers. So hardly a jeweler laughing their ass off about that as Assrora pointed out.
Yes Jessie, I am very lucky and it sure is insured.

Come on girls! Does size matter???
M Jan 18th 2007 9:51AM
Samantha..it's really none of your damn business what I wish to say in my post..so basically you can piss off. I have something beautiful that I am proud of and 2.5 carats is certainly not mediocre for me. I'd rather have the quality than size. As for 69 carats, ridiculous, unless you want to look like a drag queen which Liz Taylor happens to look like anyway.

If you want to write on your diamond then do it. I personally do not understand this country's obsession with writing names on everything. Parents drive cars with their kids names plastered all over them, everything is monogrammed ( including Nike Shox)and even huge signs in yards telling who lives there. My grandmother always said "the names of fools and monkey faces are always found in public places" and I couldnt agree more. I know who gave me my ring and to me it would be tacky to have a name or sentiment on such a beautiful stone. I also know my children's names without them being on a magnet attached to my SUV.

i think that this is an interesting idea, i might like to have my diamond with my name on it, because as one of you said, then it couldnt just be given away when something goes wrong. but i do have to say that the way all of you bicker, this comment page looks like one of the ones that little kids post on, arguing about who brought a better lunch to school. shouldnt adults have less free time on their hands for whining at each other, and more for, oh say, their families?

Did NOONE see the movie Blood Diamond? Tattoo it, brag about it, show it off - whatever - to each his own but PLEASE ask your sources for detailed information and involvement in the Kimberley Process. See:

This is the ideal diamond, and hard to find

With all of the thieves out there, I think it is the perfect Idea. What would be the chance of you getting unmarked stolen diamonds back?
Steve Jan 18th 2007 10:42AM
A jewel is a jewel. You like it, you flaunt it. 1 carat, 2 carat ...If you have something you enjoy wear it how you want...tattooed, blue, pink, yellow. If it has meaning to you, 'nuff said.

Dear M, I was proud of you, but then you fell in the muck with rest of them when you bashed Ms. Taylor. She lives her own life, helps w/Aids research & other charities. Give her a break, she's in her 70's, battled many an illness. Congrats on all your blessings

If you want to tattoo it go ahead, if not then don't. What gives anybody the right here to criticize what people would do with THEIR rings?? And stop trying to bash M...she's entitled to write whatever she wants, however she wants. I mean, when I get a diamond ring from my boyfriend, which I know will probably be 2.5k or more, I will be bragging to everybody just because I'll be so happy when he proposes! Let her enjoy her engagement happiness!! I guarantee all of you criticizing her will brag too if you ever get or give a ring.
ljd Jan 18th 2007 10:28AM
This is for M,
I think the reason that people are giving you grief,is because it seems like you're bragging. Just a thought. It's nice to be proud of the ring that your fiancee gave you, but I'm sure that all the girls that are engaged are proud of theirs also. You're making it seem like size, etc. is EVERYTHING. No need to flaunt it.
Cathy Jan 18th 2007 10:35AM
Oh M... Obviously you are all about the money and what you get so I have to tell you... Good luck in life.. I estimate your marriage to last 1 year 2 months... Hope the next ring is better..
T Jan 18th 2007 11:08AM
I CAN'T BELIEVE I AM EVEN READIMG ALL THIS. YOU ARE ALL RIDICULOUS. WELL, I GUESS I AM THE LUCKY ONE, MY HUSBAND IS MY DIAMOND AND HE IS FLAWLESS, OH AND TATTOO'D.
Deb Jan 18th 2007 10:38AM
I just have to say one thing. I think I wouldn't want to tattoo my diamond. But, what others do is up to them. I don't think its tastless I just don't think I would pay the money to have it done. I have a less then a carrot diamond ring and I am very proud of it since it was my engagment ring and the man I love gave it to me. I don't care about size or clarity it was the love for me that counted the most. I wish lol I had a 2.5 but I am happy with what i was given.
