Actress Elizabeth Hurley is scheduled to wed Indian businessman Arun Nayar in early March and is deeply engrossed in wedding plans, as are many brides-to-be. Unlike brides dreaming of a fairytale-inspired white wedding, Hurley is going for a traditional Indian-style wedding and will be wearing a
£4,000 pink silk sari ($7,700) for the ceremony. The sari was designed by
Tarun Tahiliani, who is best known for his modern takes on traditional Indian fabrics and styles. The ceremony will be held at the Devigarh palace in Rajasthan, western Indian desert state that is "known for its opulent palaces."

"Unlike brides dreaming of a fairytale-inspired white wedding"...that statement is erroneous. Many brides do not dream of a white wedding; perhaps MOST brides do. For Indians, a wedding sari is something Indian girls dream about. And yes, they can cost just as must and even more than those 'fairytale-inspired white wedding...' dresses. I am sure Elizabeth Hurley will look stunning in a sari. I've seen comments on Ms. Hurley's choice of attire for her wedding, and you know what..I'm thrilled that she choose a sari. As an American Born, Indian Cultured (and heritage) woman, I'm actually happy that someone of another culture/race can be so open-minded to choose one of the most beauitful, and sensual outfits ever created.

hey! let her wear what ever she wants. after all, she did have to put up with Hugh Grant for a spell. Remember his little brush with his hooker friend> LET her have some fun for a change>

If she's marrying an Indian man and she's getting married in India, then it's appropriate for her to wear a sari. Are you that ignorant to think that an educated Indian businessman would have a harem??

and what religion have we agreed to bring our children up in???
John Gee Jan 10th 2007 2:28PM
Might as well let it all hang out.

I checked out Tarun Tahiliani's website, and I have to say, everything in his bridal collection is absolutely stunning! I'm sure Elizabeth Hurley will look amazing on her wedding day.

hey indian babe. shuddup.
Rachel Jan 10th 2007 2:45PM
I think it's a great idea. From the way she looks in most photos, a sari will be the least revealing outfit she's worn in years!
Pam Jan 10th 2007 2:46PM
Wait a minute, what's all this talk about her being American, isn't she actually English??
Nancy Verne Jan 10th 2007 2:48PM
What about Hugh Grant. They belong together.
Dale Jan 10th 2007 2:52PM
Ms. Hurley is one of the most beautful ladies in this world today. She can wear any thing she wants. LUCK MAN

'' LIZ?? WHAT'S WRONG WITH AMERICAN MEN??
YOU'LL LOSE THAT CUTE FIRGURE IN NO TIME'' BARING KIDS''

SINCE SHE IS MARRYING AN INDIAN THEN SHE SHOULD WEAR A WEDDING SARI, THEY ARE REALLY BEAUTIFUL. I AM NOT INDIAN, BUT I CAN APPRECIATE SOMETHING SO BEAUTIFUL. I THINK SHE'S GOING TO LOOK GORGEOUS, AS ALWAYS, AND WHAT RELIGION THEY BRING UP THEIR CHILDREN IN IS NONE OF OUR BUSINESS. WHO EVER DOES NOT LIKE IT HAS THE RIGHT NOT TO DO IT. THAT'S ALL. EVERYONE..... GET A GRIP.
Deb Jan 10th 2007 3:08PM
Good for you Liz! There is nothing wrong in falling in love with someone from a different country or religion. I don't think there's anything in the Bible that says you have to marry within a certain race or religion. You fall in love with, who you fall in love with.......The person!

The color was originally chosen because of the fabric being least expensive. Later we added meaning to the color white saying it was symbolic of a virgin getting married...and now, when someone chooses to inculturate herself into the traditions of another country, folks get bent out of shape and only show their ignorance....Looking at the comments thus far, I am not far off the mark...All I can say is: do all you can to learn more about other cultures and even your own before passing judgment.

They look like beautiful gowns to me, I don't see the big deal. Hurley would look stunning in a potato sack. I think it is a nice gesture as well as tasteful wedding plan for marriage to an Indian. Unlike the recent white bikini fiasco. Golddigger? Surely you jest...and Hugh Grant? Maybe he is the reason she grew interested in a man from a different culture.
Taste is style and vice versa Jan 10th 2007 3:23PM
There are those who remain silent and are thought a fool, and there are those who open their mouths and remove all doubt.
As for all the predictions of the duration of their marriage - that they have nothing in common - that there are "harems" involved - that's nobody's business but their own, and that has nothing to do with this article. As for the one who asked what's wrong with American men, isn't she British??
Gai Jan 10th 2007 3:24PM
Well these posts have certainly taken a nasty turn. Best wishes to Elizabeth and all brides.
Jacki Jan 10th 2007 3:23PM
I'm curious to know how it was determined that they have absolutely nothing in common. Seeing people on tv or in magazines doesn't equate to knowing them. And Elizabeth Hurley is a wealthy woman in her own right, who says she needs his money? If they make each other happy, that's what it's all about.
