Petsmart Finds Profit In Deluxe Pet Hotels

PetSmart's chain of PetsHotels may well be the Westin of the pet world. Bloomberg has an interesting article on Petsmart's luxe accommodations for pets at the hotels across the country which are giving a big boost to the company's bottom line. Pets who board at the PetsHotel can watch television, snack on lactose-free ice cream, sleep on lambskin blankets and connect with their owners through the "Bone Booth" phone service.. A suite for dogs costs around $31 and includes a raised dog bed and a TV that plays dog-themed videos, while a standard accomodation with blankets and no TV goes for around $21. Word has it that Wal-Mart is starting a line of pet grooming centers so it wouldn't be a surprise to see them looking for a chunk of the lucrative pet hotel market.
