To the best of my knowlege, this is the first giveaway that Luxist has done. It's not huge - like
HDTV huge - but it is pretty cool. And it'll be easier for me to mail than a TV. Remeber that Rubik's Cube I reviewed this past Spring? It was neat and super heavy and now you can win your very own! All you have to do is leave a comment about your favorite Christmas (or Hanukkah) gift. Pretty simple. I'll pick the answer I like best and contact the winner. You have until sometime on December 30th. Good luck, and many thanks to Roman at
Zontik Games for the hookup.

The best holiday gift ive ever received?
hmmm id say "my child", "my engagement", "my dog", or "my car" ... but i dont have a kid, im not engaged, and ive never had a dog in a basket with a bow on its head, or a car in the driveway with a bow on the windshield.... all things i want, but it never works out.
Ive got two gifts that fall in 2 completely different categories.
Im a photographer but I couldnt afford the equipment I wanted even though I really didnt need it. Christmas, a few years ago, I recieved all the equipment id been eyeing, from lenses, to flash accessories, which enabled me to start my photography business. Ive been using those gifts for years now and Id have to say that was by far the best, most useful gift, ive ever received. Without it, id have no company.
The other gift is what Im getting this year. A trip to Colorado, to avoid Christmas with my dads family. Every year we throw a massive party at my parents place and every year his family ruins it by doing something extraordinarily rude, so this year, were enjoying it the way we want 3 states away.
Its gonna be nice.
Ive yet to solve a cube, hopefully i get this one so i can keep trying, or just to entertain myself at work, either works!
Happy Holidays

"My favorite Christmas Gift"
After 10 years of marriage, 5 years of Invitro Insemination, Artificial Insemination with no success we gave up 1 year ago on the alternative methods, but just found out we are pregnant.
So my favorite Christmas gift is the gift of a family, one that will remain the best gift ever, without question.
I wish everyone else out there the very happiest holiday season and hope that your dreams also come true.
All the best,
Scott Kuhn

On my 16th birthday my Dad gave me a Belgian Browning 12 guage automatic shotgun. We went hunting with my Lab that afternoon--father and son and the dog. I did not shoot the gun at all but I can still remember the woods and the lake and my Dad.

"My favorite Christmas Gift"
When I was very young I received a John Deere tracker that came with a wagon. I was one of those that you pedal around on, and it was all steel. I still keep it at my parents house because now it is a collectors item. That was by far the best gift I received that year and it was also the only one that year.
I would love to have the Cube.
Thanks,
Adam

"My best Christmas gift"
This year I received the best Christmas gift I could have wished for. I was reunited with my best friend in the whole world. We met in high school and became fast friends. Like brothers, we were practically inseparable.
After high school we traveled together, worked together; for almost 10 years our lives were intertwined.
In 1996 we had a falling out and I cut him out of my life, presumably forever. Sometimes in life we make some very stupid mistakes - the worst of which being driven by pure emotion. This was one of those mistakes.
After many, many years of attempted reconciliation, I finally got through to him. After 10 long years of feeling like a part of us was missing, we were reunited, pledging never to allow something to get between us again.
So my Christmas gift this year was my best friend, and it is most special because he is now terminally ill and I have been given this gift of time with him. We were brought back together so I could be there for him now when he really needs me unlike before when I let him go so carelessly.
Thanks for giving me a chance to share my story. Remember: Life is short - hang on to the ones you love and remind them that you love them each and every day!
Happy Holidays to all!
Daniel

The best Christmas give I've ever received involved an entire day, a few years ago. My husband and I had just found we were expecting. We were going through a rough patch at the time. On Christmas morning, he picked up a package that contained cashmere ear muffs, a scarf, and a felt wallet. He insisted I that I wore them then, and we took the train into the city. We spent the day ice skating, catching up with his friends, and window shopping. It was one of the happiest days I'd ever had. I still smile when I think about it.

Best Christmas Gift Ever:
Was one that my brothers and I gave my Mom last year. She is from the Czech Republic originally, and her mother (my grandmother)still lives there and had never been able to travel over to spend the Holidays with us.
So we secretly arranged a trip, got her doctor's permission, and I actually flew over so I could make the trip with her.
We arrived back Christmas Eve (I had said I was making a quick trip to New York on business) and surprised Mom at our Christmas Eve dinner. She nearly collapsed in shock.
Just the look on her face was worth it.

The best gift I received was actually what happened to my best friend.
We were at this holiday party and my friend made a crack about someone at the party. It was harmless enough but what we didn't know was this guy suffered from "rage problems" and decked my friend square in the eye. This gave him one of the biggest shiners I have ever seen!
Well needless to say my friend was PISSED and was thinking about filing assault charges. That is until he got back from the eye doctor (which he has never been to because he has perfect vision) who detected a rare form of cancer developing in his eye. It was just starting to form so they were able to get rid of it without him losing his eye.
Hes fine now and decided not to file any charges.
I still consider it one of the best gifts one could receive. Who would have known getting slugged in the eye would save your life.

For one of the recent holidays I got an Easel and oil paints.
Which is the coolest gift ever, because it came from a loving family member (brother) and is something I wanted for the longest time.
Needless to say, his wall is covered with my amature paintings.

My favorite Christmas gift was a Hohner Marine Band harmonica that I received when I was 15. I had asked for lots of videogames, and my parents got them as presents for me. But my aunt and uncle got me the harmonica, which I had never asked for or expressed interest in. Actually, when I got it, I was rather disappointed since it wasn't a videogame. I played around with it for a few days, then put it in my desk. A few weeks later, I took it back out from my desk and would play around with it a bit. I'm proud to say that I still have and use it to this day, 12 years later. I'm no master (even after so long), but it's fun and easy to use.

My favorite holiday gift is the opportunity to spend time with my family. I am one of 3 children not to mention cousins, aunts and uncles. We are a fairly tight bunch, however we're spread throughout the country and part of Europe. We are rarely in the same state let alone the same house at one time. So as you can imagine, everyone together for a week over the holidays is my most treasured gift.
Have a wonderful and safe holiday everyone. God Bless!

My favourite gift ever, and about the only time I ever got exaclty what I wished for, was a Sega Genesis. I don't think I (or my friends) slept for 3 or 4 days!

Well, I have had no furniture or anything for that matter in my living room for the past year. And so this year my parents have just got me a Samsung 46" LCD. To go along with that, my sisters got me a couch. So this has got to be the best year ever.
The Zontik Games Rubik's Cube would go great on the imaginary coffee table!
Thanks.

Two years ago, I had the misfortune of being in Tokyo in the wrong place at the wrong time. While visiting a friend, I managed to get arrested for doing nothing more than trying to hail a cab with my friend and a friend of his. Now it later turned out that HIS friend, who I didn't know, had a small amount of drugs on him, and under Japanese law all members of a group share responsibility for possession of drugs.
After a long wait of about 2 months in various detention facilities around Tokyo, I was finally able to plead guilty to possession [on the advice of my attorney] and recieved a suspended sentence. I was able to fly home that evening with my father - December 22nd. I received my most important christmas wish I'd ever had. I was home, safe and sound, and didn't have to spend Christmas alone in a foreign prison. That is a Christmas miracle that is going to be very difficult to beat.
Happy Holidays everyone!

My present was the best present I received in over 55 years. My wife made a set of index cards in a little decorated box. On each card was written a reason why she loved me so much. Honestly - it was the best present I had ever received.

****** Best Christmas Gift *******
I will never forget the day my dad took me by the hand as a child, gave me five dollars, and told me to walk over to a homeless man and wish him a Merry Christmas. The way this man's eyes lit up and welled up with tears have pierced me to this very day.
Simply the best gift in my opinion is being taught the "Gift of Giving." While it is extremely interesting and entertaining to read about all the new ultra-luxurious items here on Luxist, it's always good to keep things in perspective. More importantly, be able to help those around you who may be less fortunate. Without a doubt for me, the best gift still remains "giving." I wish everyone a wonderful holiday season. Luxist...thanks for the opportunity to share our gifts!
