There are several Japanese brands that eclipse the 1000 price point.  One being R by 45 RPM.  This company uses natural indigo dye and its customs can run into the range of 2000 dollars.  Off the rack R by 45 RPM jeans run in the 300-800 range.  If you are in New York, they have two shops.  One in Soho and one on the Upper East Side.  Just use Citysearch or check rby45rpm's web site.
