Amai is a relatively young bakery based in New York that specializes in brownies and other treats made from scratch with all-natural, high quality ingredients. Their flavors tend towards indulgent, but slightly unusual, combinations, such as Luscious Lychee and Mandarin [Orange] Dreams brownies. Slightly less exotic but ideal for the celebratory spirit of the season are Amai's Champagne Brownies. Sold in boxes of four or eight, the dark chocolate brownies have an intense flavor and are topped with a fine champagne glaze, in addition to having a subtle taste of champagne from the sparkling wine mixed into the batter. The 8-brownie pack is $42.

Well it's easy to see that the only thing "rich" about these brownies is going to be the people who can get somebody to pay $42.oo for them.. I would not buy them. I would feed the poor instead. This is ridiculous.

why would you boycott a company making this product? they have a right to make money on their baked goods like anyone else. I'd buy it for a special occasion. Im guessing people that can afford things like this give their fair share to charities and then some. Quit being so judgemental. Just because someone has more money than you doesnt mean they arent nice people. Yes you can get a box of brownie mix for a couple of bucks, and I'll bet you a box of these brownies, they dont taste the same. How many people could you feed with the money you spent on a computer and aol? Its all relative....live a little.

Would love to taste these, but personally would rather have a $42 gift card to Target, it would last longer and might have something to show for it!!!

It is too early in the morning for reading this stuff. $42 for brownies would not dent the pocket book of those people who would buy them. And yes, most of us who actuallty give to the homeless and not just talk about it - give extravagant gifts ocasionally too. It is so easy to say that you would rather feed the homeless then buy the brownies.......so those of you who said it get out your checkbook and GIVE the $42. Heck make it $45!!

Lighten up people - Most of the restaurants I go to charge more than $5 for desserts and people don't think twice about ordering them.

Why judge people who can afford to buy these? Feeding the homeless has nothing to do with these brownies. It's just like buying $45.00 Rainbow flipflops! Most people won't buy them, but once you have them on your feet, you'll never own a different type!! People that have money shouldn't be judged. I want to bet you that people that are buying these brownies are feeding the homeless by donating huge amounts of money to organizations! I'd love to try the brownies!

I would buy these brownies for a special occasion, and no that doesn't make me a bad person or someone who won't help the homeless. For the love of all things holy, we all spend frivolously (or however that's spelled) once in a while and there is nothing wrong with it. I don't make a ton of money, like most people, yet my boyfriend and I donate to the church and various charities all the time. I'm listening to a $300 Mp3 player as I type this and I don't feel the least bit guilty about how much food that $300 could have bought a homeless person/family because I donate all the time. You know what? The people crying and moaning about the homeless have annoyed me so much that I'm going to go buy these brownies right now! BWAH HA HA! Get down off your high-horses and get over yourselves.

I've bought these brownies and let me just say they are not worth 42$! Ever taste wine that's been sitting around for a day or so? That's the after taste you get from these brownies. Nasty!

I am able........but wouldn't buy them. I love the fact that we have so many choices in this country, though.
I used to give to "homeless and welfare" families, but not any more!! They recieve more benefits than most working people have and it is not fair. I now offer help AND money to those hard working people that just can't get ahead. They are so much more appreciative and humble.
Now that I think of it, I just may buy a box of those brownies for a girl who works 75 hours a week and still takes care of sick and elderly parents and lives in a home with no A/C or heat!

There are many ways to do charitable things, getting angry over brownies is not one of them. I am a mentor to a young, gifted writer, I consult for social service agencies, and my company does arts education outreach and socially conscious theater. AND after a day of all that, I would go and treat myself or a hard working coworker or loyal friend to these brownies. It is dangerous to have judgemental tunnel vision, there are ways to give to others and ways to indulge yourself. Both things are important for a healthy life balance. I do my part for society and am very impressed with this new brownie company.
