Ultimate Ladies' Room Luxury
If I had to guess, I'd say that 9 out of 10 times, if someone is looking for a restroom, he or she is not going for the atmosphere. On that 10th time, however, if you feel the need to look for luxury accommodations, look no further than the WC 1 super-loo. The luxury power room - a posher moniker than restroom - is 4,000-sq feet and will be located in central London, opposite Selfridges in Oxford Street, where a bouncer will stand guard and collect the £5 entry fee. There will be 19 cubicles, relaxing music and "considerate lighting," as well as marble-flooring, huge mirrors and a wide sale selection of toiletries, make-up and even aromatherapy products. The room will be well air-conditioned and the cubicles will be sanitized after every use.
The idea was from businesswoman Elaine Gennard, who plans to open several other luxury ladies' rooms in London, Leeds and Manchester. She is also considering the possibility of opening similar rooms for men.

This venture should do well in London since, on a recent visit, the only available toilet to female tourist was a freezing, cramped and dark hole of a facility. It also had a charge to it and wax paper 2 x 2 sheets for toilet paper....I have seen better truck stop facilities in the usa.

Good morning ... While I agree that this may not be the appropriate place to be hawking Christmas ornaments, I think "Satan" must be a very sad, empty and angry being. I will say a prayer for him (or her).
Meanwhile, I LOVE to idea of the grand loo, and would gladly pay the price for a seat one of those golden stalls. To be able to relax, gather myself (and relieve myself) in a clean and comfortable environment would be the ultimate in luxury. Wish we had one at the local mall. ... HillaryD

While I have been all over the world the one thing I absolutely am fanatical about is a "loo" being CLEAN. Convenience is second. I do not need a posh enviornment while "going". I would rather have that in my hotel room or better yet in my "loo" at home. Thanks and HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO ALL.

Great idea, but 5 Pounds is a bit much --- that's over US$10. 2-3 Pounds would be more reasonable. Maybe it will be so popular that the stores/restaurants in the area will get the hint & spruce up their own powder rooms. I agree with the first poster --- Britain has very cramped stalls with terrible toilet paper.

Oh please paying to tinkle or whatever. What are we back in the 50's and 60's when you used to have to pay a dime or quarter. That woman just wants to recoup her investment. No deal here. I"ll go where it's free thank you very much. And you guys think us yanks spend to much money on frivolous thinks yea right!!!

Hmmmmm, I thought I sent this before but it's never showed up. So, I'll try again.
This rest room is very pretty and all but it's also very silly to have something like that. With just a regular nice, CLEAN rest room and all that money left over....How many starving kids could it feed?? Oh....By the way...I mean the kids "RIGHT HERE IN THE USA"!!!! NOT over in some other country. Dosen't charity start at home?
One thing that is very nice is the Webmaster here took off the first comment where they were trying to sell there things and also took off the second comment from *SATAN.* The foul mouthed person who couldn't say a nice word. *To the Webmaster*: Removing those 2 comments...That's the best thing you could have done. Thank You very much!!!
Merry Christmas to you all.

To be fair, hotels and rented flats in London provide pretty adequate toilet paper. The "wax paper" is probably reserved just for the public loo. Harrods public loo charges 2 pounds (unless you show a receipt for purchases minimum of 50 pounds) for their average looking loo, so I'd have to say the luxury loo is a real bargain at 5 pounds!
