There is no limit to the number of ornaments you can add to your home or to your Christmas tree over the holidays. Unlike just about every other type of decoration, ornaments can be as dissimilar as snowflakes and a display can still look stunning when taken as a whole. It does help to start our your collection with some beautiful ornaments and these are some of the best that we have seen this season.
Gucci's Holiday Catalog has a lot of gifts that anyone would feel privileged to find in their stocking, including two limited edition holiday ornaments. The Holly Ornament (pictured) is a flat brass disc with engravings of holly and the Gucci logo. It hangs from a green and red web ribbon. 20% of all the sales from the catalog will be donated to Unicef. Price: $155.
Swarovski's Annual Ornament Collection has a wide array of different ornaments, all made out of crystal and cut to perfection so that they all capture every bit of passing light, from candles or from the lights of a tree. The Signature 2006 Ornament is shaped like a snowflake. Price: $65.
Waterford's 2006 St Nicholas Ornament is the first in a series of five ornaments that will feature Santa and will be released over the next few years. It is made of Waterford Crystal and is a good place to start a collection. Price: $50.
Barney's Happy Snowman Ornament is absolutely adorable. Designed by "Classics by Anita," the ornament features a vibrantly colored snowman diorama inside a real goose egg! Price: $110.
Neiman Marcus also has a signature ornament out this year. Engraved with "Christmas 2006," the ornament is made of sterling silver and is 2.75 inches in diameter. It might be a bit heavy for a tree, but it would look lovely on an ornament stand. Price: $110.
For something a little bit more natural, Viva Terra has a set of Quartz Crystal Ornaments that will still sparkle brilliantly on the tree as light catches each of the natural facets within the quartz. Each is approximately 2-in long and they are sold in a set of 12. Price: $39.
Each member of the Nutcracker Ornament Trio from Steuben Glass looks as though it were carved from an icicle. Designed by Taf Lebel Schaefer, each soldier stands almost 5-inches high and is sure to be a showstopper anywhere it is displayed. Price: $375.
Tiffany's Snowflake Ornament is classically beautiful, enlarging and enhancing one of the most gorgeous designs in nature. Made of sterling silver, this is one ornament that would look just as good in the window as it would on a tree. Price: $175.
If you're interested in getting a very limited edition ornament, one from the Vivian Alexander 2006 Christmas Ornament collection might be a good choice. There are only 200 signed ornaments available. The ornaments have a silver base and are decorated with red and green enamel, as well as clear crystals. Price: $150.
Juicy Couture's ornament collection comes packed in a heart-shaped, lined box that is a cross between a jewelry box and a box of chocolates. It includes six glass ornaments - a gold crown, gold heart, pink ball, blue teardrop, terrier and strawberry - that are emblazoned with Juicy slogans. The set makes a beautiful gift for a Juicy fan.
