Tiger Woods is clearly ready to move on to the second part of his golf career, the mogul part. Fast on the heels of the announcement of his
new partnership with Ernie Els in the Bahamas, Tiger has announced that
the first-ever Tiger-designed course will be the "Tiger Woods-Dubai." Tiger's company,
Tiger Woods Design, is joining up with
Tatweer, a member of Dubai Holding, to create an exclusive golf community that will include "Al Ruwaya, a Tiger Woods-designed Golf Course, golf academy; a 60,000-square-foot clubhouse; an 80-suite boutique hotel for VIP guests; 300 luxury villas; 20 mansions and a community retail area. The course itself will be a par 72 designed to challenge all levels of golfers. In the press release Tiger is quoted as saying that he is "excited about the challenge of transforming a desert terrain into a world-class golf course." The community should be completed in 2009 and will be located in the
massive Dubailand project.

"Broad minded people talk about ideas...Small minded people talk about other people!" Tiger Woods has accomplished more in 10 years as a professional than most people could in 3 lifetimes! He has certainly earned the right to do what he chooses to do...Tiger does not "owe" this country alone! Yes, he has made tons of money here in the U.S., and does give back much in foundation work, and millions of dollars are made by the local economy with every tournament he plays. He has singlehandedly brought the "youth movement" to what was once considered an "old man's game"! In time, I believe Tiger will share many facets of his fortune, talents and his popularity with great commitment to the U.S. He has at least another 30 years left to play this game competitively, barring any affliction. As he matures even more, he will "give back" what golf has given him - 10 fold!!! All the great golfers have ie: Arnold Palmer, Jack Nickalaus, Byron Nelson, Tommy Armour...the list is endless! I have always applauded Tiger from the time he won in the ametuer ranks...and will do so til I'm dead! I play golf - competitively and I can tell you from personal experience - it is you against the golf course!!! But in life - it is you against the World...and Tiger is conquering it - 1 country at a time!!! Isn't it amazing a man like Tiger Woods half Black, half Asian - could be a factor in bringing a peaceful game to a voilent part of the World...and with it, be an ambassador of peace - period? YOU GO TIGER WOODS!!!!!

How incredibly ignorant the naysayers are. They should do some research on the Tiger Wood's Foundation before chastising someone that is giving more back to the youth of this country than any other single athlete or star. How much are you anti-Tiger idiots giving back?

Go Tiger!!
Tiger does plenty of charity work here in the U.S. He can do whatever he wants with the money his skills have brought him. Does building a financial empire for himself and his family for generations to come make him a questionable person? NO!! Everyone would do it if in that position!
Go Tiger!!

I'm sorry to say , but it's obvious this blog does not have spell check. Tiger is an icon for the golf world. I've played on several Palmer courses and they are fantastic. Let the man be. One of these days i hope to be able to afford to play in the 120 degree heat in Dubai. I'm used to playing in the 100 degree heat of South Texas. Everyone is just jelous that they will never play it. I only wish it was closer to home. Cheers !

I am a huge fan of Tiger Woods; his work ethic is second to none. However, with his place of prominence on the world stage, he is in a position to set examples of how we could better serve this world. I hope that in designing this golf course he will keep in mind global warming issues and encourage the people who will build this luxury resort to make it environmentally responsible.

I find it hard to beleive that Tiger Woods would do business with a country that practices SLAVE LABOR. Dubai is being built by workers that make a $ 1, thats right one dollar an hour. These workers are forced to work 12 hour shifts and are housed in run down buildings where up to 12 people sleep in one room. In supporting that, clearly Tiger has lost sight of principles set forth in this country.

Tiger is someone I look up to. To hear that he is going to create a new golf course in Dubai makes me happy because then more people will be able to enjoy golfing. Even though I have never played golf, I know people who do and they really enjoy it. May Tiger continue to shine for many years to come.

Hey Tiger...charity begins at home !! What happened to helping the inner city kids learn the game? What's wrong ..not enough press interest? Isn't that where Michael Jackson is in exile, Thank God!! Better put lots of bunkers on that course, you're going to need them !!

RE: Concerned
You are clueless if you think he hasn't concentrated any efforts in this country. Have you any clue as to what the Tiger Woods Foundation has acheived for kids and children in the communtiy? How about the Tiger Woods Learning Center? Do your research before opening your mouth. Enjoy your +30 handicap.

Someone should make sure that Tiger is aware of the working conditions of those who labor on his project. Those conditions vary in the UAE states from OK to barbaric. Someone sometime is going to do an expose on this project and he will be best served if he does the due diligence on this aspect of the deal........ras

OK, First of all. To the person who thinks Dubai is underdeveloped. Wrong. Do you even know where Dubai is ? Dubai is becoming a Millionares playground. Oh and 130 degrees is very rare on average its 113 degrees and only for a short time. There is no winter here so you can play Golf year round. Food is cheap, but the realestate is extremely high.

Hey, Tiger-Bashers... Your jealousy and envy is stinking up the place! I'm surprised you turned off Jerry Springer long enough to type a post here! Is your keyboard sticky from all the bon-bons and Twinkies you eat? You envy Tiger because he's successful and you AIN'T. You envy him for his gorgeous wife... his house... his yacht... and now his first golf course. Why? Because you wish YOU had all that! Don't drag down successful people just because you're a loser. Stop making excuses and start making a living! You're making me SICK!!!

And how is my family to get into Dubai, since we're Jewish?
Craig Demos Dec 13th 2006 10:15PM
Good for Tiger. He has already demonstrated his ability to be a business man and now he is taking the next step. There is nothing wrong with preparing himself for a career after competative golf. Most everyone wants to better themselves.

Hard work always pays off - enjoy and keep on building your courses all over the world and beat Jack Nichlaus (300) courses and Ernie Els (7) / Gary Player (220) and all the rest at this too. !!!!!!!!!!!!
