Limited Edition Steinbach 'Star Wars' Nutcrackers
The number of people who collect both nutcrackers and 'Star Wars' things is probably relatively small, but there must be some demand for things that fit into both categories because Steinbach of Germany has come out with two limited edition 'Star Wars' Nutcrackers for Christmas. Darth Vader stands 18 1/2 inches high and is draped in a vinyl cloak, while Yoda is just 9 1/2 inches high and is armed with his walking staff. They're not exactly seasonal, but that doesn't mean that they wouldn't make a fine gift for a fan, anyway. Darth Vader is $350, while Yoda is only $250.

The ability to crush a walnut is insignificant next to the power of the Force!!!

What's next? Jabba the Hut toilet paper? The prices are steep on these weird things. How much money does George Lucas really need??? I like Star Wars but this is a bit too much...just a wee bit too far on the ego trip there Georgie...

It's not George Lucas's fault. He only authorizes the use of his characters. Steinbach came up with the idea, Lucas approved it.

Good Lord just when you think things could not get any more stupid for people to waste their money on. If you have a few hundred dollars to toss on a toy, then you have some money to help people dying of starvation in Darfur. Contact the International Red Cross.

In response to the doofus above who suggested that we give the cost of the Nutcracker to Darfur. Hmmmmm...let's see. Oodles of people are suffering in Darfur. The UN's there, but they're too busy securing get-rich-quick deals for Kofi Anaan's son. Yes, I could give them the $350. But, really...$350 won't do a bit of spit to help them. Screw them, their fly crawlin' heads, and their AIDS infested camps. And screw all of Africa while you're at it. Gimme' that Darth Vader Nutcracker baby!!

You know.....people have too much money! star wars is cool and all (dont care much about nutcrackers) but that is ridiculous...like the person said above....if you can spend that much on this, how about donating 350 bucks worth of star wars toys to the little children who have nothing...just a thought. how about it Mr. Lucas??? donating any of that cash?? -Joe

I work higher up in the retail world for gifts and Steinbach nutcrackers are beyond expensive. Always have been. They have also been around a gazillion years. All of their nutcrackers are collectable. Lucas has absolutely nothing to do with the price and Steinbach approached the Lucas holdings not the other way around. Execs just said OK and liscensing fees are exchanged. I say good for Lucas that everyone wants to jump on the bandwaggon and have a piece of his empire. We all should be so blessed to create something so huge. As for donations by Mr. Lucas I think the $175 million he just gave to the film school at USC is a GIANT gesture. It will help my son continue his education and ease the financial burden on me since I am not made of money. HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
