Aspen Excess, Estate of the Day

This French Country chateau in Aspen, Colorado is located less than 1 flat mile from the gondola. The lavish home was built in 2000 and has 1.3 acres that includes 5 ponds & 3 waterfalls. The home includes such over-the-top details as an English Gentleman's pub, theater, wine room, library, recreation room and an exercise room. The details in this home include rooms heavy with reclaimed timber beams, marble fireplaces (gas, of course because who wants to get their hands dirty building an actual fire), and a huge saltwater aquarium with tropical fish. The home includes a 1500 sq ft heated patio and deck with a Jacuzzi and firepit. This home is listed at $18.5 million. After the jump, be sure to check out the lion next to the fireplace in the great room.

The interior design is absolutely horrid, but that is to be expected. Fantastic location, though.

Nice place, notice how they never give you the details on places like this. Like if you have to ask how much the taxes are, then you can't afford it. Aspen is such a beautiful place to be and to live. I dream of doing just that. But when I see prices like this for a place to live, then I know that even a 1 bedroom will be on the edge of what I can afford. I hope someone who appreciates the beauty and comfort of a home like this, gets it!
