Urinal Sculptures

We love it when designers tackle non-traditional items, reinventing them as functional works of art. For example, Clark Sorensen has created a line of urinal sculptures which remain useful even though he has made them more visually appealing than you would have imagined a urinal could be. Each of the urinals is hand-sculpted from porcelain and is completely unique. They are designed to be plumbed and, as they are made from the same material as commercial toilets, they can easily be substituted. Sorensen has a vision of these pieces in galleries or at any other institution that would embrace such an unusual art installation. Prices range from $6,500 to $9,500 per unit.

On a scale of 1 to 10, I'd give these urinals an 8. In other words "your an eight".

Why would a Man want to have a huge FLOWER as his urinal, I mean I know they're urinals but they are a bit feminine No? Do guys really want to urinate in a seashell?

My husband wants to install a urinal in our home and I think those urinal "sculptures" are the only way one is coming into our bathroom!

I think these are great, being an artist myself.I would love to know how many he sells, if any. We all know the story of the starving artist.

There are way too many grammatically challenged individuals out there...don't they teach grammar in our schools anymore?!?
Dan Cousineau Nov 27th 2006 9:16PM

I think they are beautiful, but... sadly wasted on men. LOL I somehow can't picture my husband thinking they are cool :)-

Yes, we teach grammar in the schools, but it is not a prerequisite for a chance to go to the toilet. If we could hold it (the chance, not the toilet)over their heads, we might find ourselves with a considerably more literate group, thereby making a wee-wee bit of difference in the outcome. "Can I go to the bathroom?" might become "May I go to the can?"

All I can think of is... how would you clean one of those things?
Linda Nov 27th 2006 8:56PM
For a rather ugly if not ordinary piece of plumbing to be artistically interpreted this way I say WOW.
Designers will love this treatment
Dance Clubs will love this application
Anyone interested in providing the basic channel for the basic function of life will find this intriguing and very, very creative.
