Timberline Lavish, Estate of the Day

When they call this listing in Alpine, New Jersey palace-like they aren't kidding. The six-bedroom home is awash in lavish details and is a world away stylewise from a similarly priced home we recently saw in the area. Heavy on the marble, elaborate wood moldings, gold leaf and heavy chandeliers, this home is new and built for entertaining on a truly grand scale with monumental public rooms. The home also includes a library and media room and the two-acre property includes an inground pool and a three-car garage. It is listed at $13.5 million. After the jump, a formal dining room fit for a king.

Looks like the latest in Vegas hotel design.

You guys are haters. That home is amazing and sets a real mood of decadence and excess (a good thing). Unlike some of the other super expensive houses of the day, this one isn't afraid to show it's price tag. I love me the double staircases. It's important to have one side for going up and the other for going down :)

It looks like a spec house with a bunch of deco stone slapped on top of it. typical of houses of the stock market bubble... typical new jersey!

This home is for those who have excellent taste. It is not for people wishing you could have but for those who really have a true desire to live like royalty. It's decor is very elegant and tasteful. Perhaps not what everyone is looking for but truly nice.
