The Merritt Hutchinson Estate, Estate of the Day

An estate large enough to be a college could be yours for $12 million. The Merritt Hutchinson estate near Lynch Station, Virginia was recently being considered by Founders College as the site for a new college. The 1,114 acre estate is located in the foothills of Central Virginia's Blue Ridge Mountains and has six houses on 12 separate parcels of land. The estate also has multiple buildings, conference rooms, five barns, two lakes and a cattle pond. It was recently used as a conference center and resort, commanding room rates of up to $300 per night. One of the parcels, the Fletcher Homestead, shown above, is a 390-acre piece which could be used as an 18-hole golf course. Antique furnishings from around the world are included in the price. All that for a measly 12 Mil? That's a steal if I ever saw one. You could rent those places out and make your money back in no time.
