Porsche 917 Sofa

Generally, we love limited edition products, unusual sofa designs and, of course, Porches. When you combine those three things, the result is expensive, but perhaps a little less than what we would have hoped for in terms of elegance. The Porsche 917 Sofa is made of fiberglass and even comes equipped with real working headlights, although they won't really help you if you want to get some reading done as you relax on it. The seat has a leather base, but the rest of the piece is covered with nine coats of two pack automotive paint, just like a real Porsche. It is being produced by Inspired Design and each sofa from the limited run will sell for about $7,500.

I like Porsches as much as the next guy (probably more), but where would you PUT something like that ... besides a child's bedroom, the garage, or the waiting room of an auto repair shop or Porsche dealership??

Nice, you can feel like in a cabrio supercar in your living room.

Agreed. Luxury + cost doesn't always = taste or whimsy. This just plain ugly. The only use I can envision is in a bar/lounge or restaurant venue, where people jockey for position to be able to sit in the fancy car seat. Of course, you can enjoy the same thing at some 50's diners out here in California, where one diner I know of, in Sacramento, cut a few 50s era-cadillacs in two and use them as booths. THAT even has more charm than this one.

Well if you are a Porsche enthusiast, this is a must have for your lounge area. Much like a MINI fridge which must be on the cars/kitchen of MINI lovers.

the only thing I use a sofa for is to lie down, this unit would be worthless, I wouldnt pay $20 for it
Bobby Nov 3rd 2006 8:50PM
I think it's kinda stupid......It reminds me of the car beds the little boys sleep in......lol...Surely good money can be put to better use....

Wth. That's ugly. Who ever spends 7.5k for that deserves to lose their money.
Chuck Nov 3rd 2006 9:01PM
This just proves that, no matter how ugly something is, if it doesn't sell at first, then put a higher price tag on it. The orders will pour in. Just look at some of the crap that makes its way into the Neiman Marcus catalog....

if your thinking about buying one of these dont ! donate the money to the poor youll enjoy thatmore (ITS DAMN FUGLLY )
tracey Nov 3rd 2006 9:22PM
Sorry, but I prefer comfort. That ugly thing is not what I would spend my money on. The price is unreal. I say lower the price WAY down and if you have to give it away. It would be fun in an auto shop waiting room.

some people just have money to burn
Pat Nov 3rd 2006 9:38PM
Why would anyone want to pay $7,500.00 for a one seater couch??
Ronnie Nov 3rd 2006 9:28PM
This is by far the ugliest thing I have ever seen in my life.
mary Nov 7th 2006 5:15AM
I would dump this loser...FAST!!!!
llinda Nov 3rd 2006 9:30PM
I think the seat is a waste of money. there are better things to do with money then just burn it. You can help someone who really needs help and you will feel better
john Nov 3rd 2006 9:37PM
just another example of how americans waste money on trendy crap
Jessica Nov 3rd 2006 9:38PM
ugliest thing ever. YUCK.
Shshana Nov 3rd 2006 9:59PM
I think my Chihuahuas might even slide off- It would be a great water proof piece in a game room, but I think I would miss the "FRICTION"- I think its very creative...
