The "after" photos shown on ABC's GMA story were taken immediately after the procedure, while the lids were still a little swollen and slightly bruised. The healing process typically takes a few days. Normally, we would wait 6-12 months to photograph the 'final' result from the eyelash transplant. Eyelash transplantation cannot restore ALL of your lashes with a single session yet, however, even just thirty to forty lashes can make a HUGE difference, because they grow very long. Because the implanted eyelash follicles are harvested from the scalp, the resulting lashes will need to be routinely trimmed and curled. During the procedure, meticulous attention is given to the position, orientation and curl of the transplanted lashes to ensure that the resulting lashes look beautiful. Initially, there is some swelling of the lid which distorts the angulation of the implants during the initial healing. Eyelash transplants do require routine care, so they are certainly NOT for everyone. In addition, when you compare the cost of eyelash transplantation to eyelash extensions, eyelash transplantation is less expensive in the long-run.
