No More False Eyelashes
A new surgical procedure might just be the next big thing to hit the Hollywood set in the name of youth and beauty: eyelash transplants. No longer will women look to false eyelashes to meet their expectations of beauty because they can have them permanently enhanced. The lashes are put on using the same "plug and sew" technique used in regular hair transplants for balding men and about 30-40 lashes are individually sewn onto the eyelid. Only a handful of surgeons use the technique, but some say that the enhancement should catch on quickly. "Eyelash transplantation does for the eyes what breast augmentation does for the figure," said one surgeon. Only local anesthetic and light sedation are necessary, and the whole surgery only costs about $3,000 per eye.

Or you could just use Jan Marini's new Age Intervention Eyelash and grow your own eyelashes.
I have been using the product since it came out and my eyelashes are not only longer but much thicker too.
All of my friends use it and love their eyelashes!
It's not even close to $6,000 and there is no pain.
I recommend Jan Marini's product first before doing a painful and expensive procedure like eyelash transplants.
They have a money back guarantee! Every women should try this if they want longer, thicker, and darker lashes!

Actually, I am familiar with Jan's product and it does seem to work very well, perhaps by prolonging the growth phase of the lash follicles. In fact, we prescribe the product here at Bauman Medical Group. However, it only seems to lengthen the existing lashes and it needs to be used every day. Jan's product costs about $160 per bottle. If lashes have been damaged by trauma (accidents or hair-pulling conditions), then you are likely to still need eyelash transplantation. Keep in mind also that once the transplant is completed, the results are permanent and the lashes will only need to be trimmed and curled. A number of people who used Jan's product have already come in for the eyelash transplant procedure to increase the number of lashes in their eyelids. It's kind of like using Rogaine plus hair transplantation--using one does not negate the other. In fact, the results are multiplied when you use both the medication and the procedure together.

I watched the Good Morning America story on eyelash transplants, and I must say I was less than impressed. The new lashes appeared sparse, irregular and askew. For $6000 bucks, I would expect more. My advice, wait for this technology to be perfected!

My eyelashes are falling out. What could be causing this?

Tiki,
I am responding to your comments regarding the 'look' of the transplanted lashes shown on Good Morning America. The "after" photos shown on ABC's GMA story were taken immediately after the procedure, while the lids were still a little swollen and slightly bruised. The healing process typically takes a few days. Normally, we would wait 6-12 months to photograph the 'final' result from the eyelash transplant. Eyelash transplantation cannot restore ALL of your lashes with a single session yet, however, even just thirty to forty lashes can make a HUGE difference, because they grow very long. Because the implanted eyelash follicles are harvested from the scalp, the resulting lashes will need to be routinely trimmed and curled. During the procedure, meticulous attention is given to the position, orientation and curl of the transplanted lashes to ensure that the resulting lashes look beautiful. Initially, there is some swelling of the lid which distorts the angulation of the implants during the initial healing. Eyelash transplants do require routine care, so they are certainly NOT for everyone. In addition, when you compare the cost of eyelash transplantation to eyelash extensions, eyelash transplantation is less expensive in the long-run. For more information on the procedure, visit my website at http://www.eyelash-transplant.com
