Why would they care if people in new orleans have a home or not, is it up to them to help them. Those people were told for years that was going to happen one day, and all the people on the coast know it as well, thats the risk they take to live there. I live in a rain forest, in the center of a old volcano, if it one day blows up are you going to take things away from your family to give to mine? does the world owe me anything? I think not. people who have nothing in this world is because they don't go out and work to get it. I was raised in the slums of new york, no father, mother a crackhead turning tricks for her dope money until she died, at age 14 I lived outside our old apt. in the streets, sometimes sleeping inside an old apt. that was empty. I went to school like everyone and learned all I could, No one knew that I had no parents. I got a job at 16, bought a car at 17, and am retired in the garden of eden a 43. I have no pity on people who sit around waiting to have baby number 5 and the mailman to come with the check. These people choose to live the life they live, anyone of them can get out of that lifestyle and do something with their lives, instead of that.

billy

Comments on $20 Million Wedding Cake

I guess you have to have $20 million to waste to appreciate the beauty of it. Have we gotten to the point that we will spend money on just wasteful BS as a wedding cake? I am all for it. I agree with O-Stars regarding how people live. My Mom used to say," God Helps those that help themselves". and helping themselves doesnt mean the government. I would love to have had that cake at my wedding. But I settled on one for $220. and no one in the world starved because of it.

Dianne

Comments on $20 Million Wedding Cake

Why on earth would anyone do such a stupid thing? I grew up with Nothing and was happy to see a dollar when I was able to have one to buy myself something How about giving this Money to People that have Nothing there is a family as we type dieing because they can not afford to eat but you people can make a cake out of frosting and diamonds what a shame to waste all the food that could have purchased for people that REALLY deserve it.
I must say if you needed this cake then I really hope you choke on it.

Crystal

Comments on $20 Million Wedding Cake

I think we are missing the point that this is a marketing tactic to get peoples attention. This was a promotion - not a real cake that someone ordered. A jeweler paired up with a baker. Sheesh. Does everything have to rile your indignation? It's called "promotion", dummies. Do you think Geiko hires real cavemen? Oh my Gawd! We should go do something about those poor cavemen being so exploited!

cathy

Comments on $20 Million Wedding Cake

Billy God Bless you. You should be the example to others that is for sure. I am glad that you ave a wonderful life now. What an inspiration! As for the cake.... Well it is beautiful and If I was rich rich it would be nice but the meaning of a marriage is not the price tag on the cake or reception it is the love for one another. People tend to forget the reason for the Wedding........

Lauren

Comments on $20 Million Wedding Cake

While I feel that we have a reasonable responibility to help our neighbors, I have to agree with Billy. My upbriging was not optimal either, but, I choose not to live that lifestyle, or sit around blameing someone else for my misfortunes. I am sure that the cake is a novelty, and although I personally believe spending a bundle on a wedding is a waste, it should be up to the idividuals what they spend. And too, how many people keep a roof over their heads by providing these services? It would be sad to see all the businesses that do weddings go out of business, and put a lot of people out of work. Enterprize in America, isn't t great!!!!

Vicky

Comments on $20 Million Wedding Cake

Sooz is right! By the way Billy, what in the world did your blog have to do with cake?? I don't agree with this cake thing at all!! 20 million for a wedding cake?!? This is ludicrous! Insane! It's wasteful. As far as the $20 MIllion cake. what is the big deal. The cake is perhaps $500 to $1000 for a fancy wedding cake. The diamonds will be salvaged and used in other jewelry, it is not that they will disappear, unless stolen. They are "forever" remember. It is a smart business move and is getting lots of FREE publicity, just look at the name of the Jeweler and the cake maker. It was a smart business decision by whomever dreamed it up.

steve

Comments on $20 Million Wedding Cake

Gee, Billy. I hope you're still reading these. I wonder how many people you stepped on to get to where you can retire at 43, because you certainly seem to be a self-involved individual. I also wonder if you have a soul. Have you ever given one second or one cent to another? The Bible says we are to help widows and orphans. Yeah, the cake is a travesty of waste. I would be embarrassed to show it. Diane

Diane
