Armand De Brignac is the New Cristal
After denouncing Cristal, the luxe drink of choice of rap artists for many years, Jay-Z was left with a tough decision as to which champagne could replace it as a sign of opulence in rap/music culture. It appears that the artist has decided to (unofficially) endorse Armand De Brignac now, featuring it in one of his new songs as "gold bottles with the ace of spades." It seems like a good choice based on the bottle alone.
Armand De Brignac has been produced by a family owned vineyard for over two hundred years and has only just started to be imported from France. It is said to have notes of flowers, citrus, dried fruits and brioche.

Clearly the bottle design had a lot to do with his choice. He needs a visually distinct bottle and cool looking label to feature in his rap videos. A plain old champagne bottle would just wouldn't be "bling" enough.

For all of you who didnt know, "SPADE" used to be a popular racist name for a black person. Too bad Jay-Z chose this brand. I guess he didnt know. Duhh.

I'll never forget Moby on "Cribs". He said "Here is something you don't see on this show...a LIBRARY." He's right. If the rappers want to start a true new sign of opulence, how about showing us that they READ BOOKS. Maybe that will influence their fans to get an education, rather than a drinking binge on the FLAVA of the WEEK.

Why is this a big deal? What kind of man drinks freaking champagne? Might as well order some White Zinfandel with that. Hip Hop "Culture" is about the lamest marketing ploy going today. Kids are dumb.

Apparently it's NOT hundreds of years old, it's SEVERAL years old. And from what I read, the website (which was put up 3 weeks ago), was registered by someone from Jermaine Dupri's 3 Vodka company.
Sounds very much like paid product placement, guys.

When there is so much other stuff in the world to worry about, why is so much time being spent on caring what Jay-Z drinks? Don't get me wrong, I love the Jigga Man but he does not pay my bills no buy my champagne. I appreciate his lifestyle for him but that is what is - his life. And it is great to know that the rapper in the suits (not the baggy jeans and gold teeth) appreciates good things. I do too but that does not mean I am going to buy the "golden bottle with the ace of spades" because he puts it in his song. Curiosity may get me, but that's about it. And yes, negro brew is racist because other races seem to be more into Jay-Z and rap in general than negros. So should it be called "the new wannabe a negro brew"?

Who cares what a rapper drinks or doesn't drink? Must we become a nation so obsessed with celebrities that we have to track their every move? I don't care for celebrities that milk the media to get attention for stupid things. Actors, actresses, musicians, the celebrity of the moment, the kids of rich parents; let's face it; none of these people are really that important.

These people should hip-hop themselves on the next boat back to the congo. Nobody cares what new (or old) drink is now 'in' to the "street scene", because the only people that can afford to drink it are the white and jewish media slave masters. I'm not impressed with some flash-in-the-pants rapper thinking he's 'the shizz' because he can name-drop some obscure swill.

I am so tired of black people just sitting around and waiting for something to bitch about...Paula mooney is black. Which means that she can imply that only black people enjoy expensive champagne, and not be crucified for it. At least do SOME research before you start making insinuations. Unbelievable morons!!!
Lisa Oct 21st 2006 12:50PM
Cause some dumbass rapper drinks this, I am supposed to? Get the hell out of here. I drink what I like not what I am "supposed" to like. I be hating big time. Pass the Mumms.

Why would you want a drink "endorsed by rappers"?

I agree with you on that...

on post 12.
rather than point out a silly racial comment over champagne that many people in your community can't afford (hell i wouldn't pay hundreds of bucks for that bullsh**, you know how much beer that'd get me?) why don't you do something productive like promote artists that don't lead the greedy lifestyle (at least in the videos) drinking stuff that could pay many people's rent, or at least their car payments?

Donna -
Jay Z is actually the head of several successfull companies including his own clothing label, Def Jam records, and is also new spokesperson for Budweiser.. just because he is a rapper does not mean that is all he does... get your facts straight before you criticize someone, especially when you're basing it solely on what you read here...
