Sears Road Estate, Esate of the Day

The town of Brookline, Massachusetts is home to a variety of beautiful homes but they aren't often renovated with as much of a lavish touch as this one. This home is a classic Georgian Manor house with gardens by Olmsted Brothers. Built in 1929 for Quincy Adams Shaw, the expansive property was renovated by Woodmeister Master Builders with a plan that seems to have involve plenty of velvet and gilding. The nearly five-acre grounds include a pool and children's play area. It is listed at $19.5 million. After the jump, historic and shiny.

I know this property was on the market no so many years ago (maybe around 2000; if not a couple years before) also at the time marketed by LandVest the stellar New England real estate firm. It was on more land and yet still for a [then] mega price north of $12 million.
The houe stayed in the family until at least the 1990's as Marjory Bacon Cheney, wife of the late Quincy Adams Shaw, Jr, remained there after his death. She died in 2003.
While the Olmstead firm was based in Brookline, hence a significant number of FLO designed landscapes and later by his succeeding Olmstead firm, it still is a great example of their loving work.
