The
Pontos Decentrique GMT watch from
Maurice Lacroix has a unique off-center design and a tonal gray quality that gives it a serenely beautiful look. The titanium watch is a hefty 45mm and has double sapphire crystals. The movement is the automatic ML caliber 121 with 30 jewels. The watch has a moon phase with night and day indicator. A patent is pending on the connection module between the movement and the new type of date indication used in the watch. The watch comes in a limited edition of 999 pieces and
sells for $7,150.

I like Timex. Less than 50 bucks and if I accidently dunk it, it's no big deal. $7,150 is pretentious and downright silly.

I had a moon watch back in High School that cost less than $50.00 and it worked forever.$7,150.00 is my rent for almost a year!!!!

I have designed a watch that has a Sun hand and a Moon hand. When facing south the hands point at the actual direction of the Sun/Moon in the sky.

I guess if you have $7150 hanging around for spare change it makes a nice gift..

If you can afford this watch you should wear a smart platinum bracelet and a diamond pinky ring also. Until you have worn this watch or any other expensive jewelry don't knock it.If all you can afford is a $10.00 Timex enjoy that also as it will keep good time and last. Although I have worn expensive jewelry in the past after getting held up at gunpoint at a gas station I no longer wear this or any jewelry on a daily basis. The good stuff is all in the safe deposit box. Being retired I no longer wear a watch.

People that don't understand wanting to buy this watch are full of shit. I bet half the people that already posted have a car that cost 2 or 3 times more than what they really need. Or a TV, that is bigger than they need. This watch is just someones way of pampering themselves. And if I had the money, I would buy one as well

It can only tell you it is time to get your head out of your a**

Phineas, old buddy, I have not seen you in such a long time. BEEP!

The watch is ugly, and doesn't hold a candle to my two-tone Rolex

Can anyone point me to a new, curved, 18K gold wrist watch similar to the Hamilton 1932 Ardmore?
Larry Oct 18th 2006 10:01AM
Why not purchase a real watch. Rolex cost more - proably works better an has a gold quality. This looks like a K-Mart Blue Light Special. I bet the promoters are putting more into this than the craftsmen.

maybe the picture of the watch just sucks on my monitor...or not. the damn thing is just butt uguly plus it is insane to spend that kind of jack with all the people still starving on this rock...don't you dare buy this without feeding a starving city somewhere. betcha can't eat it.

I have a Lacroix Peseux Masterpiece. 500 pieces made. Much more elegant then the Everybody has one Rolex. Something different, and only 500 people will have it. Great watch. Less than 7 grand!

Too bad they spent so much time designing ugliness...
What a waste of time!!!!
edokydoky Oct 18th 2006 10:15AM
Betcha can't tell when its 20 minutes past 4 on the big dial, and what's the second dial, an egg timer ??
Michey Oct 18th 2006 10:16AM
Rolex has the worst time movements, second hand garbage outsourced. They're great if you want to be flashy and not tell time. If you're going to spend that kind of money on a watch, do some research. Get an Audermars Piguet, Patek Philippe or Jaegar LeCoultre. Hand made time mechanisms my master craftsmen that will be around and keep their value for generations. Combined they don't make in 10 years the number of watches that Rolex pumps out in a year.

A watch of this calibar is not just a watch but, also,
a good investment. It is probably a more safe and profitable investment than most of the Blue Chip stocks.
My return on my watch is better than 20%. I invest in pre-=owned watches

I think it's a great design. The smaller face if for the extra time zone, for those of us who travel or want to know what time it is in Rome. The big issue to me is - does it keep good time? Rolex's keep lousy time, you need a Timex for the correct time. My Dubey & Schallenbrand keeps great time.

I second the opinion on the Patek Philippe being a great timepiece. These artsy new watches,of which this Lacroix is one, are cute but not terribly functional. (How would you tell when it's anywhere between 4 & 5 o'clock, use a protractor, I guess.) When it takes more than just a glance at one's wrist to tell the time, you've got a mechanized bracelet -- not a watch.
