Witanhurst, Estate of the Day

What could be more worthy of an estate of the day than a home which is the second largest house in London in private ownership (the first being Buckingham Palace). The historical Georgian-style mansion is located on a five-acre estate in the village of Highgate, North London. The home looks like it has been here forever but it was actually built between 1913 and 1920 and was designed by architect George Hubbard for soap magnate Sir Arthur Crosfield. The home has 65 rooms, 25 of which are bedrooms. The home has a 40,000 square foot wood paneled grand ballroom, drawing room, study, entrance hall, billiards room and so much more. Listed at over $51 million the home is still a bit of a fixer-upper which is why it probably hasn't been snapped up by a Russian billionaire or an oil tycoon yet. After the jump, Queen Elizabeth II has danced here.
