John Lennon's House For Sale

The musically-related real estate keeps coming. The latest is John Lennon's former home in Britain. The six-bedroom home outside Weybridge, Surrey, is where he lived as the Beatles rose to fame. Lennon, his wife Cynthia and son Julian lived at the house from 1964 to 1968. According to the article in Bloomberg, in1968, while Cynthia was in Greece, Lennon brought Yoko Ono to the house known as Kenwood. Cynthia Lennon returned home to find Yoko in her house and wearing her bathrobe. Oh if these walls could talk. The home, which also has a playroom, sauna and swimming pool is up for sale for 5.95 million pounds ($11.1 million).

#14, the Beatles "Over-rated"??????? What planet are you living on.. You can judge Lennon harshly and perhaps rightfully so, but the the Beatle's sheer volume of songs, #1's, their impact on music, dress, culture, etc...is immeasureable.. we will never again see the likes of another band like this. They are to rock what Beethoven is to classical!

This is just one of the reasons I always wondered why so many people thought John Lennon was such a wonderful person. What he did was cruel to his first wife and son and in my opinion shows his true character.

Imagine, so many people still mad at yoko ono after all these years! The story is about his old house being sold, not that money grubbing gold digging un-talented, home wrecking slut, yoko ono! Its a beautiful house, probably worth eleven million even if Lennon didnt have affairs there with that ugly squeekyvoice old dried up piece of old sushi, while still married and with a little kid to raise. I wonder if yoko gets any of the money from that house, like she sucked all the money from everything else john lennon did before during and after she broke up the beatles.

Someone should smack you raping John's memory when he's dead. I hope somneone pees on your graves. The shock value of John's life is already out there. You're digging it up now and acting holier than thou? John never did that to anyone. Your pedigree is far more evident than the one you are trying to smear, you jerks.

#9 "Bob" Yes I Was Around & ALIVE When The Beatles Were Playing,Recording & Listening To Their Every Record & Album Including The 45 Size Records(Singles) And I Even Listened To The So Called "B" Side To ALL Their Albums & Songs Heck! I Even Listened To "The Walrus" Backwards To Hear That Supposed Secret Message Hidden In That Song, Telling Us How Paul McCartney Died Which Was Never True btw (LOL) But Simply A Rumor To Sell More Records/Albums & Peak Every & Anyone's Interest Mind You. Personally I Think That The Beatles Got Such A Tremendous Laugh About That On All Of Our Expenses. LOL! As We ALL Know Paul McCartney Is Very Much Well & Alive & Getting It Stuck To Him By His 2nd Wife The GOLD DIGGER That She Is However Paul Deserves It! I Think It Was WRONG For Him To Marry So Soon (And To Someone Far Too YOUNGER Than He!!) After Poor Linda's Dying From Cancer! And Their Poor Daughters,I Feel For Them BIG Time!! What A Way For Paul To Honor The Memory Of Linda Whom DID Stay By His Side Forever! Anyways, "Bob" Yes! I Indeed Was & Still Am VERY MUCH Alive When The Beatles Were Still Together! I Grew Up To The Beatles As My Fav. Uncle Was A Huge MAJOR Big Time Beatle Maniac & All He Played CONSTANTLY Were? Yep The Beatles! He Has EVERY Record/Album EVER Produced & Put Out There Even Twin Albums & More! He Is NOT Selling That Collection For Any Dollar Amount! Already Asked Him Myself LOL! Smart Guy Indeed! I Am 46 Years Old So Figure Out The Math, I Was Born In 1960 To Be Exact! So Yes I Did Grow Up & Lived On The Beatles & I Listened To Them & Still Do To This Day! LOVE THEIR MUSIC!! And FYI?? No To 50 Cent!! Rap Is Like A Bad Case Of The Clap! PAINFUL! VERY PAINFUL! So I've Heard LOL! So HERES TO THE BEATLES!! Whom Have Done FAR LESS Crap In Comparison To The Singers & Groups Of The 70's,80's,90's & Most Definitely The WORST Era Music Wise Is(Drrrrrum Rrrrroll Please) THIS ERA!! It Is SICKENING! I'll Take My Beatles & Old School Rap & Rock & Roll & Even YES My Disco Years As Well! The Blues, Jazz, Pop And R&B From Yester-Year!! Thank You! And One Last Thing YOKO ONO Did Split The Beatles Up! HOWEVER... John Lennon ALLOWED That To Happen! NO MAN Would Or Will EVER Let ANY Woman (Wife Or No Wife!) Or ANYONE Bring Them Down & Take Over To The Point Of It Splitting Up The World's MOST Famous & Loved Band/Group & Causing Nothing But "ILL WILL" And Feelings Between Them To The Point Where They Weren't Even Talking Or Having Anything More To Do With John Lennon!! So Get ALL Your Facts Straight! Before Being So Opinionated & Judgmental Of Others PLEASE! LOVE YA ALL!! PEACE OUT!!

The fact of the matter is that John and Cynthia were anatomically incompatible. That problem did not exist with Yoko
Michelle Oct 15th 2006 1:40PM
Nice house tho I have no use for cheaters who bring their paramours into the marital house. get a damn hotel room; you sure can afford it.
Whatever spell UglyYoko had over John - it was real.
UGH!

#3 leilengh's remark--The reason why Cynthia wasn't "Standing by her man" as you put it was because the Beatles manager thought it would be best to keep Lennon's marriage and fatherhood a secret. He (the manager) thought if the fan's knew he was married it would affect the band's image and sales. As far as Yoko Ono goes, when John died, Julian and she ended up in a bitter court battle over momentos from John's life when he was with Cynthia and photos of John. The woman has millions and she wouldn't find it in her heart to at least have copies made of photos for Julian or give him some of his dad's personal affects. Nice image of a stepmom, huh? She might be a greiving widow but John Lennon still had TWO sons both of which deserve to be able to have equal photos of their dad. I think if John weren't such a superstar people wouldn't have him on a pedestal but refer to him as an ass.

John was at his creative peak while he lived in this house and he created some of the most important music in pop music history. When you consider the songs he wrote for the Beatles albums Rubber Soul, Revolver, St. Peppers and many others, a lot of musical ideas germinated while he lived in this house so for that reason alone, it should be made into a museum rather than someone's private home.
And as for his failed marriage, is it that surprising that it was hard to keep it together during the insanity of Beatle mania? I think Yoko was his soul mate and I'm glad he found her.
Edward Oct 25th 2006 6:34PM
John Lennon was a man desperate for a mother figure - and a father figure, as well. Cynthia was a marriage thrown together due to a baby born out of a booze bottle on the weekend, according to his own words. He loved Cynthia much less than she loved him, but the marriage was there for Julian - a kid he often treated like his mother.
Yoko Ono was a fellow artist whom he felt a special connection with. She was the mother figure he needed in his life - whom he often referred to as 'Mother.' They both had the same 'avant garde' mentality, the same appreciation for the...'arts.' Sadly, John was much more dependant on her than her on him - if he had lived three more years they would have been divorced.
Honestly, I don't think that Cynthia and John would have stayed together regardless of Yoko's entry into their lives. The Beatles? Same thing. John and Yoko would not have stayed together, John and May Pang (his mistress ) would not have stayed together. John was an emotional mess and co nstantly searching for someone new.

I think it's funny how judgemental everyone is over a man who's dead.
Like you were all there right?
You knew Cynthia,John, and Yoko personally right?

Well, I wasn't aware that John Lennon was abandoned by his mother and father. I know his Mother was ran over and killed and that his Aunt Mimi raised him after that. I never heard of the situation with the dog and his Aunt Mimi either. I think that if it wasn't for his Aunt Mimi, there would never have been a John Lennon for us to write about. I think his Aunt Mimi from all accounts I have read as a beatles fan in the 60's were all complimentary to her. Great Going Aunt Mimi and thanks.

I met John and Yoko in Bloomingdales when I worked there in the late 70's. They both were very respectful of the staff and of eachother. This is rare among many of the rich and famous customers. I was suprised that they were so tiny in stature. John appeared about 5'4" and at most 110 lbs. Yoko looked about 4'11'' and maybe 85lbs. I guess when you meet such a well known person it comes as a suprise to see them as so frail.

I think people who suddenly acquire wealth and fame often become eccentric. (Look at Michael Jackson). It would have been nice if he was a saint but John did quirky things, cheated, (even the president does that) and I am not familiar with the details of his life. I am not all that interested in it to tell the truth. He was no more noteworthy that Paris, Tom Cruise, Whitney Houston, yadda yadda. They all wind up on the tabloids and have their issues. As for John and Yoko, I remember the music and that is all that is important for me. The rest is like the wind. Who cares? Patti

It is often the case that gifted artists are screwed- up human beings. A famous psychologist once said it's because they have no "core" personality or "core" values. In actors, it's this factor that allows them to fully assume the personality of the character they portray, like a chameleon. Their fully-rounded adult personality was trucated at some earlier point in their lives by emotional abandonment, abuse, early onset drug and alcohol use....whatever....or else they're just plain sociopathic to a degree. (Sociopaths are not mad killers -- those are psychopaths, like Jeffrey Dahmer -- but sociopaths are capable of a complete lack of conscience. Sociopaths make excellent chameleons, narcissists and liars. Scott Peterson is a typical sociopath.) Take this childish non-personality, couple it with enormous talent and subsequent wealth, and you get narcissistic, irresponsible, often quite bizarrely unadmirable characters that make for great people-watching. They afford the rest of us a chance to feel self-righteous and normal. Personally, I'm greatful they're deviant. Not only do I enjoy their talent; pruriently I love them for the gossip they generate. Yoko has had something to prove all her life; John, poor sod, was a tremendously immature bastard with talent; and Cynthia is well out of it because she seems the most normal of the three. Still, it was a load of heartache for her. Sociopaths have no conscience.

Yoko and John were a disgrace to society. The two of them did a nude cover on an album. They helped break down morals of our country. He did have some beautiful music. She sounded like a sick cow when singing.

It's funny how the sale of a house can bring out the worst in all of you. You can't change history. Obviously there were problems between John and Cynthia and Yoko was there, it could have been any other person and you'd still have hated her for being the homewrecker. It's just a house for sale, so get a life, you can't afford it, move on, nothing to see here, have a nice day, you've got a lucky face.
