DL Memento Mori Skull Plates
You can't accuse Douglas Little of jumping on the skull trend. The designer with the love of the macabre has been hip to working with skulls since before they became ubiquitous. He's now taken his designs to the next level with these skull plates. The four black porcelain plates have silver details dominated by a big skull. A set of four 7" diameter plates costs $160 for your very intimate and very gothic Halloween fete.

Alright, a few things.
1) There is no such thing as a "Skull Trend"
2) This is this dude's work. Leave him alone.
I have so many more things to complain about right now but just choose not to.

I like it and so does my husband and daughter. Too expensive to eat off of though. Better to put on display. Awesome work and idea!!! Don't worry about those other negitive comments they're just trying to make something twisted out of something harmless as usual. Just a bunch of party poopers I'm sure!!! Probably wouldn't much like my harmless rottweilers either :)

I am 55 yrs old and I LOVE skulls and everything gothic! These plates are so cool BUT I have seen them at Party City for a lot less. I would buy these for everyday use in my house, but not for 160, that's just way too much. And for Mary K.N. this is not a "picture" of a dead "person" it's a skull. Sure it's a human skull but WHICH human, who cares. It doesn't represent someones dead mother on the plates. Get real, this is "cool" something you probably are not, so go back to your knitting, if you don't like it don't buy it, and don't waste your time writing about something you know nothing about!!!

They are pretty kool, but just for halloween, not all year round. I bet my older sis would like them. The only problem is that they're $160 !!! That's kinda stupid. I bet my food woudn't look that apitizing on them.
Spider Oct 9th 2006 6:20PM
No surprise...If someone can think of something dumb, someone will be dumb enough to buy into it!
Jocelyn Cote Oct 9th 2006 5:57PM
At that price, I want an X-Ray of my head and my OWN skull on the plate! (Now, THAT would be using my head!)
mike Oct 9th 2006 6:11PM
those plates are freaking awesome where can i buy them i want them. those are to cool!!!!!!!!!!!
John Oct 10th 2006 11:37AM
Hmmm...I could eat bbq ribs on this plate while watching CSI.
Patty Oct 9th 2006 6:53PM
I think they're cool. I'm also a mom of two little girls. I used to have checks with skulls going across. People used to comment that they were great around Halloween time, but they weren't just for Halloween...I used them all the time.
BabbleOn5 Oct 9th 2006 6:20PM
I have money, 5 kids and a good sense of humor and yes I'd buy these just because I can. But the main reason is to give the 'haters' out there more reason to bitch and moan about something that isn't their business. Let people buy what they want, let people design what they want. If you don't have anything nice to say...then shut up. Jealous people suck.
"R" Oct 9th 2006 6:38PM
It just goes to show that some people will buy anything. If they have the bucks, who cares? There is a seat for every asshole.

Very cool for the Goth trend that seems to be prevelant http://www.fitnessfacts.org

Hmmmm...yawn!
Judi Oct 9th 2006 7:25PM
Ohhhhh, I think this design is gorgeous! What a eerie way to set the stage for a perfectly chilling Halloween repast. Wouldn't Lilly Adams (c'mon ... the Adams Family???)just adore a set or two of these ... for everyday use? Can you imagine the flatware to set these off? Perhaps something with BONE handles? So perfectly delightful!
Lisa Oct 9th 2006 7:34PM
To Mary KN: These plates are not insenitive to the human race and yes I would use something with a dog or cat skull on it. Simple fact, we are flesh and blood. Nothing more. Do you think it insensitive that doctors used to cover their favorite medical books with the skin of deceased patients that they found interesting? As if that aren't disturbing enough, you can still find these human skin covered books in libraries and private collections. It's silly to think of our bodies as some great being. What we leave behind in spirit is what matters. Oh, and by the way, the plates are cool. I would buy them.
Dina Oct 9th 2006 7:48PM
yea nothing like tea and toast and a saucer with a death skull on it yumm yumm.
dlhastings Oct 9th 2006 7:50PM
Skulls on a plate? Sounds like "Snakes on a Plane". And yes these are ugly but I am sure that my hubby will still like them. I wouldn't pay $160.00 for a set though. Maybe 16.00
Leesha Oct 9th 2006 8:02PM
The plate is ugly and creepy and way too expensive. I understand it could be useful for Halloween, but it is soo ugly looking!
watpro Oct 10th 2006 5:02PM
I just don't get the big deal; if you want them and can afford them, go for it! If not, find something better to do with your money, AND time: get off your conmputer!
