Own the Real Haunted Mansion
Disney fans take note: the house that was the inspiration behind the Haunted Mansion at Disneyland is up for sale. The Harry Packer Mansion was built in 1874 and is in Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania, a town that is known for its appreciation of Victorian architecture. Despite appearances (and the fact that it is currently used to host Murder Mystery Weekends), the current owners assure prospective buyers that the interior "is anything but spooky," with high ceilings, Tiffany stained glass windows, marble fireplaces, period antiques and fabrics. The mansion is about 4,500-sq. ft. and is priced at $1.75 million.

I lived first hand in a haunted house. With 22 spirits and 2 demons. What a trip. It only lasted 10 months and we got out. Fast. I think when ever you put the word "haunted" in the selling desctiption the price will drop. Like the Glen Sheen Mansion here in Duluth, Minnesota...haunted. Worth half its value now because of it. I think whom ever purchases these incredible places needs to have prayers said for them. It will rip their lives up to no repair. Best wishes and God Speed! Ü

to Sandara H...
The white swirls around your head are spirits but they have nothing to do with the mansion. When white fogs shows up around you in a picture those are spirits that live with you.

i think its sick that people think there are real ghost in these old houses and masions. in my opioion i think they are people who had very rough lives and may have been harmed . or some may have been badly abused and dont know where to go

The house is beautiful.Ilove PA.I go there often.I,m a good one for sensing if there is a ghosts around. And they don,t bother me.The landscaping is beautiful.I am a landscaper by trade.Sometime when I'm up that way I'll take a look. And if I were in the market for buying a house,I would definitly consider it.Have a nice day! This house doesn't look like the Haunted Mansion at Disneyland or Disneyworld. It also doesn't look like the Winchester house in San Jose, CA. The Haunted Mansion in Disneyland looks like an old plantation house, which all are very beautiful. This house for sale looks very beautiful on the outside but it's worth a look by a home inspector on the inside before buying. That's probably why it's "such a steal". The real money will be paid to refurbish it after the purchase. Maybe Donald Trump would be interested in this. After refurbishing it, he could make a lot of $$ selling it for the right price.

i think it is a beautiful home , if it is really haunted that would turn me away most definitely and if the owners are making money off the disney name it would be nothing new to me, someone is always trying to get something to profit off of. that is why i trust noone when it comes to money and making a deal.otherwise it is worth every penny from the looks of it .

This house looks nothing like the Haunted Mansion at Disneyland. That mansion had a Lousiana feel to it, or a home in the Southern part of the United States.

I would just love see the inside of the Mansion... If I could afford it.. I would buy it... I always drive around looking at old victorian homes. Homes with porches that go all around the house... fireplaces, balconys off the bedrooms, that you can get a beautiful veiw.....There is this house I have driven by for years off the 15 fwy, b4 the Cajon Pass off Sierra. It is all by itself. It looks like a 2 to 3 story home. Beautiful. It has a porch all around and has a celler, too. Around back it has a view of a spiral stairs going up to a observatory... It is black tinted glass case.. you can actually see it. I was fortunate to be able to see the inside. It had a wooden stair case going upstairs. A huge fireplace separating the entrance to the other room and it goes all the way up to the ceiling, so I vision that the other rooms upstair use the same fireplace to get warm.. I got a glance of one of the bathrooms. It was antique looking. The walls of it had the floral wallpaper and the toilet had the pull chain above to flush... beautiful decor..The floors were all wood..looked like dark oak.. The buyers had a caretaker on site.. but when I went close to it that day there was noone around.. I was lucky.. I found out the house was for sale, like close to $500,000..(Of course it is nothing compare to this mansion you are showing..) It needs some refurbishing though. Alot, because no one has lived in it, just been sitting there. I heard the owners were two doctors that owned it and had it moved from somewhere esle & they had maritial problems & just left it there. Never moved in. The trees that were going to be planted never got planted. There were there on the land still in the pots.. Didn't get transplanted. I would drive by there everyday for 4 years just to look at the house..I had a home in Victorville. I drove thru the Cajon Pass & as I drove to work in the mornings, heading to Los Angeles, I would see this house to the left. All by itself, no greenery whatsoever.. just rocks. Mannn, that would of been a beautiful site if the owners had actually lived there... I would take family or friends to see the house.. I would tell them to come & look at my dream house.. I called it mine.. Ha ha.. We laughed about it. But they too thought the house was neat.. Looked kinda spooky too.. It looks almost like the house in the movie Amityhill.. O, well, I just wanted to share my thoughts on another neat house..To this day I still think about that house off Sierra Ave in Fontana, Calif. I think, I will be driving up to see if it is still by itself soon.

There are more 'scary people' walking around then there are Ghosts floating through the air in Haunted Houses. So! who's afraid of Ghost! more to be afraid of scary, living people..love the house..could you lend me a few million?

To set the record straight...
You are a soul living in a human body.
When death happens you become a spirit,
and go to the other side.
Some spirits due to unfinished business
or other reasons do not go to the other side, therefore they stay where they were
in life.
At this time they are Ghost, yes they are
real we have had 2 living in our home for
over 11 years now.
My dog see's them,my young son see's and talks
to them.We know their names and ages when they passed away, how they passed away.
I have seen the younger one myself, and we all experience them and know they are here living with us.
To all the non believers I hope you have your own experience someday,I wouldn't change a thing.

I don't know why I have such a fasination with spirits or ghosts. I guess it fun to think that there are things in this world we can't explain logically. It's fun, it's a change from life's mundane nine to five routine. By the way I missed work today and I enjoyed reading everyones comment. Sharon from Puerto Rico

Yes, 'ghosts' are real alright. They are demons posing as dead people. When we die we "go to sleep until His return.! We don't 'do' anything but peacefully sleep until we are Judged.

I think the house is magnificant. And maybe if the soldier would get a real job instead of following the village idiot we have as a president he could afford a house like this one.
I hope someone buys it and fixes it up properly. I grew up in a haunted house...We actually had 2. I think possible the spirits followed us from house to house. It was and still is very interesting. I thought in "AMURICA" we were free to do and buy as we please regardless of where our priorities are. Mine is being happy and not tearing up other countries and making another Vietnam.

I have never visited; however, it seems to be a gorgeous house with I am sure charm galore; however, as the Sgt. stated life and just surviving are subjects that are more pertinent and should excite us much more than a piece of architecture.
