We received a hot tip that this castle-like waterfront home in Centre Island, New York which was recently put on the market just might be the home of Billy Joel. Joel bought his home in 2002 for $22 million and was married there in 2004. This estate has 1550 feet of waterfront. The large 14,000 square foot main house is definitely Piano Man-worthy (note the elegant grand piano. The estate also include a three bedroom, 2 1/2 bath guest cottage and three bedroom, three bath beach house. Other features include indoor and outdoor pools, tennis court and a bowling alley. It is listed at $37.5 million by Daniel Gale. After the jump, I'm in a New York state of mind.
[Thanks, Pat]

So, the copper pots in the kitchen, hanging from the pot rack dangling from the ceiling. . . how is the cook supposed to reach those?

^^^^ Well, a while back there was a $60 million Lloyd Neck estate w/ 2 helipads featured on this site. Taxes $194,985. It's completely absurd and listed on danielgale.com if you want to take a peep. Maybe he'll move there!

I loved the Jerry Seinfeld Reference!!! I wonder if he's still a little sore about buying Billy's house with the view of the nude beach... Not that there's anything wrong with that...
Cheers!

A few years ago it was reported in The NYPost or Newsday that Billy had a strong interest in "Salutation". The private 24-acre West Island estate in Glen Cove was built in the 1920's for Junius Spencer Morgan, JP Morgan's son. The Morgan family parted with the estate in 1976, but with many restrictions preventing development of the island.
The beautiful stone Elizabethan manor house facing LI Sound was designed by society architect George Bullard. While exceedingly private most of the public has seen it before: it was used in the 1995 remake of the movie Sabrina (Harrison Ford, Julia Ormond) and it also was seen briefly in the 1998 film, A Perfect Murder, as Gwyneth Paltrow's parent's home.
The property was last sold in late 1998 for just under $10 million. Speculation a few years ago when Billy was rumored to be in talks with the owner (as I recall a wealthy older woman whose late husband made a fortune in investment banking) was that she'd part with the whole island, manor house, other cottages, et al for a price in the $35 million area which was almost unheard of at the time. Today one can only imagine that in the era of $100 million home the price to buy could have risen to well around $50 - 60 million or more.
From Google maps the aforementioned property:
