The latest celebrity to get into the wine business is Dan Aykroyd. Aykroyd has invested in
Niagara Cellars and plans to release the Dan Aykroyd Signature Reserve Vidal Icewine 2005 early next year. The
Toronto Star reports that Aykroyd also wants to develop other white wines and a few reds too. Aykroyd will launch two ranges of Canadian wines, the Dan Aykroyd Signature Reserve Series of super-premium offerings and the Dan Aykroyd Discovery Series of mid-priced wines through
Lakeview Cellars. He also has an interest in developing a new vodka (oh no, not another one).

A guy who was (supposedly) at one time funny is making wine and people are jumping up and down with glee?
All because he is (or was) a celebrity?
Give me a break! It is no wonder washed up stars never go away. All they have to do is create a product and gullible fans swallow it.
I'm sure Dan's wine will be a huge holiday tradition....at the local beanery.

I meet Mr. Aykroyd on a traffic stop outside of Ft. Lauderdale, Fl when I was a K-9 Trooper, He was a gentlemen and a nice person. We talked for about an hour and he was unbelievably down to earth and friendly. I stopped some celeb. winners in my time that thought they were above everyone else. He wasn't like that. So, I say good luck to him and I hope he does well. I will buy a few bottles myself, But I won't be driving. lol

Too bad it's so difficult to get Canadian wines into the US. Maybe you should do a story on that before you tease us with this story. I love many of the wines of the Niagara region, but just try to find anyone that will help you get them to your table and you will be dismayed. The VQA certainly has been no help whatsoever, and if my livelyhood were dependent on that body I'd sue them at the very least.

The Niagara Region produces some of the finest wines in the world. I'm glad that someone with Dan's status has gotten involved. Good luck to him.

Dan will never be a washed up actor. Though I'm still P.O'd you never released Trading Places 2. I'm sure if your wine is half as good as you are funny/ talented,it will be quite successful.
I'm also sure you wouldn't put your name on it if it wasn't excellent. Use cork, not screw tops because I wouldn't want it to taste like a "bassomatic" drink. Good for you Dan. I like Reds myself.
Andreas Sep 29th 2006 7:13PM
I see no reason why Mr. Aykroyd would not produce an excellent wine. After all, the first winemakers were cavemen and I am sure that Mr Aykroyd has evolved well beyond those pioneers. Use screwtops & avoid mold.

Hey Dan, I recon I touched the wrong key. Best of the business to you. Me and my wife have saved all our bottles over the last 10 years [of coarse their empty now] no screw on caps for us. Send us a truck and we can let you refill them. Thanks from N.C.

Greetings Dan , Please contact Mr. John Searl. Listen to him while he's still alive. Your meeting with him will change your life. I've tried to contact ABC and the White House...however, my efforts fell into hands of "computerized responses". Just talk to the man, what he has to say is something you need to know ,it's called "SEG". I wish you well.I'm a home builder in Louisiana.
