$1.28M Golden Rocking Horse
For the kid who has it all, Japanese jewelry designer Ginza Tanaka has created a 24-karat gold rocking horse. The toy was designed in honor of the birthday of Japan's Prince Hisahito and weighs about 80-lbs, significantly heavier than the normal wooden rocking horse that it is styled after. The weight does have an advantage in that it allows the chair to rock much more smoothly than other types of horses. Although the jeweler is willing to take orders for more, only one has yet been made and is valued at $1.28 million.

Wulxie, your an idiot. I work hard everyday. My job is closing its doors and its not because the people that work for the company is lazy I bet they work harder than you ever had in your life.

To the lady who is living with 27 cats, did you ever think how much of your money those cats are eating up--and the roaches are probably there because of the mess and food from the cats. Also, where in our constitution does it say that the government has to find you a place to live. In this country we are the government. Why don't find your own place to live. The people who recognized that it was just a publicity stunt got it right. The rest of you need to re-examine reality.

I have a great idea. Let's make a solid gold egg holder for the fridge or maybe a golden foot stool. What a waste of time!!!!
Dominikat Sep 28th 2006 10:53AM
All this because a BOY was born? What did they do for the girls? Jeez he'll probably just end up playing with the box anyway. I hope that's not gold plated too!
Molly Sep 28th 2006 9:47AM
Yes, it was a publicity stunt by the jeweler! The Royal family of Japan did not buy it. Yes, the rich are different from "you and me", the poor ones.
Yes, I am poor not because I am lazy and I am not using my head! Yes, I prefer brewing my own coffee than buying it from you know where, not buying "designer's/signature accessories, not contributing to the wealth of the celebrities and yes, I still contribute to worthy causes I believe in, no matter how small the amount I can afford!
Dawn Sep 28th 2006 9:55AM
Can we say "GREEED!" I one dont have money like that to buy things like that and if I had that kinda money believe me that would be the fatherest thing on my list of thing's that I would do.I teach my kid's material thing's are just that, life isnt about material thing's nor does it make anyone a better person, friend,or whatever.
Maria Sep 28th 2006 9:47AM
Kim is right. It is all about publicity. Next!
Eileen Sep 28th 2006 9:48AM

THIS IS FOR POSTER "WULUXIE"!
WHO THE HELL DO YOU THINK YOU ARE? YOU MAKE A DUMBASS STATEMENT THAT PEOPLE ARE JEALOUS AND "THOSE WHO ARE POOR ARE NOT DIFFERENT THAN "US" "!!!!
ARE YOU ON HERE TRYING TO GET SOME IMMATURE POINT ACROSS THAT YOU HAVE ENOUGH MONEY TO BUY THAT IDIOTIC ROCKING HORSE? WELL GOOD FOR YOU.
THIS ISN'T ABOUT JEALOUSY. IT'S ABOUT SENSIBLE PEOPLE RECOGNIZING WASTE AND MONEY. WHO GIVES A RAT'S ASS ABOUT THIS KID BEING ROYALTY? DOES HE BREATHE DIFFERENT AIR OR HAVE A DIFFERENT COLOR BLOOD? HE WILL START AND END HIS LIFE LIKE EVERYONE ELSE IN THIS WORLD. HIS FATHER'S BANK ACCOUNT WILL NOT PROTECT HIM FROM CANCER, ACCIDENTS, OR ANYTHING ELSE BAD THAT HAPPENS TO PEOPLE. JUST LIKE YOUR MONEY WILL NOT HELP YOU.
I HAVE NO PRIDE FOR AMERICA. I'M EMBARRASSED TO BELONG TO THE SOCIETY WE HAVE BECOME AND I'M SO HAPPY I'M MOVING OUT OF THIS COUNTRY. IT DOES NOTHING FOR IT'S PEOPLE. NOTHING!!!
READING MS. JONES' POST ABOVE HITS THE NAIL ON THE HEAD. PEOPLE DON'T CHOOSE TO BE POOR. THERE ARE CIRCUMSTANCES IN LIFE THAT PUT THEM IN THAT POSITION. WHEN AN ELDERLY PERSON HAS TO STAND IN A STORE AND DECIDE WHETHER TO SPEND THEIR MONEY ON THEIR VITAL MEDICATION OR GROCERIES, THEN SOMETHING IS VERY WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!
SO I SUGGEST YOU HAVE A RETHINK BEFORE OPENING YOUR CAKE HOLE. YOU HAVE DIARRHEA OF THE MOUTH.
PEOPLE LIKE YOU DISGUST ME. MAYBE YOU NEED TO PURCHASE A ROCKING HORSE AND SHOVE IT STRAIGHT UP YOUR ASS.
HAVE A NICE DAY EVERYONE ELSE.

Thank you "M". I have Jesus though, Thats all I need.
christie Sep 28th 2006 10:18AM
for that price the kid could have gotten a herd of horses, maybe some actual stimulation which would be more exciting than an eighty pound paperweight.
Shiv Sep 28th 2006 10:00AM
CAN I HAVE ONE IN PLATINUM ORDERED PLEASE, GOLD JUST WONT GO WITH MY PLATINUM PONY!!!!!!!!!!
Michael Sep 28th 2006 10:01AM
Mathew 26:8, when people ask Jesus about extravagant spending on his behalf, saying "That money could be given to the poor!" -- he responds "There will always be poor people".
Wake up -- this is a publicity stunt. Gold is gold. This was made to commemorate the birth of a baby that is now 20 days old. No one said it was going to be given to the child! Here's how it works: you make a 1.2 million dollar rocking horse, you get all the publicity, then you melt it down and make something more desirable.
Millions of people line up every year to see the Fabrege' eggs or the Crown Jewels of Britain. Some of the most beautiful jewelry and art in the world has been created for sultans, princes and royal families.
I notice all of you have internet access, while people in developing countries don't have access to clean water. Speck of dust in your neighbor's eye?
Kendrid Sep 28th 2006 10:03AM
Yes people get a clue this is not meant for the new prince (whose at most 2 weeks old) to play with. This is a gift in honor of his long awaited, long desired birth by his parents. There was no male heir until his birth and what was going to happen if his father died before one was born was a real concern to them. Yes it would be nice if more of the haves helped the have nots. But guess what ITS NOT THEIR JOBS. it would be nice it would even be honorable. But those who have millions if its because of hard work, dumb luck, birth right whatever the reason owe no one else anything. How they spend their money is their choice it is after all THEIR MONEY. just like how you spend your money is your choice. Unless you want someone to start telling you how and what to spend your money on jump off the soap box and stop pressuming to tell others how to spend theirs. If the royal family wants to get this for their son and display it in their palace how does it hurt anyone. I would think his family may be a lot of things but i doubt one of them is so stupid as to let their infant son play on something meant to be displayed.
Jesse Sep 28th 2006 10:04AM
It is amazing the responses to a gold horse. Yes they have money, yes it was a publicity stunt, so what. The economy is tough on everybody, but take a look around folks. You could be living in a hut with no food or medical etc. etc. So quit your bitchin. Go out and look at the sky if you can't, look out a window if you can't see, breath in freedom. We have issues that is a fact, but it could be worse. Before it is said no I can not afford to buy my child a gold horse.
James P. Sep 28th 2006 10:15AM
People grow up. When you earn lots of money you still only spend a portion of it on things you buy. The nice women that only has 500 a month income buys her grandchildren toys from the dollar store. If you look at the purchases proportionally you will find that her kids are much more pampered. Be happy with what you have and work smart to get what you don't. And yes it is a beutiful toy and I am happy for him.
John Sep 28th 2006 10:16AM
Yes, it is a frivolous expenditure. And as such, it becomes easy for us to criticize the jeweler, the prince, the wealthy, etc. There are so many needy people throughout the world who could use just a little of that money. And yet, as we condemn the wealthy, we still shell out the monthy fee for the frivolous use of the internet instead of using the money to help a charity ourselves. Strange, isn' it. It is so easy to see the faults of others when we ban mirrors from our field of view.
