$1.28M Golden Rocking Horse
For the kid who has it all, Japanese jewelry designer Ginza Tanaka has created a 24-karat gold rocking horse. The toy was designed in honor of the birthday of Japan's Prince Hisahito and weighs about 80-lbs, significantly heavier than the normal wooden rocking horse that it is styled after. The weight does have an advantage in that it allows the chair to rock much more smoothly than other types of horses. Although the jeweler is willing to take orders for more, only one has yet been made and is valued at $1.28 million.

okay so this is intended for a child, looks a little dangerous. This is not just for the child, I think this is more for the person who wants to show of their monitary means, "Look at Johnny's new rocking horse, isn't it beautiful." I doubt the child will even be allowed to play on this. I'm not jealous of the $, I'm disgusted in the idea that anyone would purchase such a waste of space. The $ that is spent on this could be used to help out many, shelters, research...ect. What a waste of $!!!!!!!

Readers, It is very upsetting to read your nasty comments I believe you didn't understand the meaning of this gift. It has been 40year Japan didn't have a male heir Prince Hisahito his the first male Prince, and coming from a country with Royal Family, I think this toys was designed in honor of such a great birth evenement. You first go on with the world poverty, homeless, Global warming etc... How can you write so much bad comments without knowing, This people are I am sure much more involve in global warming, homeless..., thoses issues who are all mentioning can be help with every single individual. With so much jaleousy, untolerance and little of awarness of rich people cause involvement in their life, Why waiting for someone else to do it for you, I wonder is your involvement in thoses issues you mentioned.

Wow, everyone on here is crazy, it is a publicicty stunt for the jeweler, duh you idiots. I love the way people start spouting off about how the rich should save the earth and cure world hunger with their money. People with money only care about their money and keeping it and keeping people with money in power, the way people with out money care about only their money and themselves. The people that responded with "the rich should fix the world" would you do it? You probably would not, you would be too busy buying stupid materialistic items and getting fat. But honestly it is a stupid rocking horse and no parent would let their kid play on it. But again it is not really meant to be used.

If you have that kind of money to piss away, why not get your kid the top of the line model from FA) SCHWARZ in Manhattan, then donate the rest of the money to charity??? That golden rocking chair is sad, ridiculous waste of money/

Made "in honor of a prince's birth"? What ignorance. Thats a throwback to the age of fuedalism. Its now 2006, are we ever going to move beyond this adoration of royal families and all their pompous trappings? "Royal birth"? There is no such thing, ALL births are royal.
Julie Jones Sep 28th 2006 8:29AM
You know what? Forget everything about the horse. Happy Birthday Little Prince! Lots Of Love

IT'S AMAZING WHAT SOME PEOPLE DO FOR ATTENTION...CLEARLY, IT COULD OF JUST BEEN GIFT WRAPPED AND DELIVERED AND NO ONE WOULD OF KNOWN. SO SAD, BUT PROBABLY A GOOD BUSINESS DECISION! YUK! IT'S NOT EVEN A GOOD LOOKING DESIGN.
becky Sep 28th 2006 8:52AM
wow! amazing how many people are totally missing the point and standing on their own soap box for this. its a gift. the father didnt commision it or gho uot and buy it. its the jewlers way of drawing attention to his store. dont blame "the rich" for a gift they receive. and then please dont stretch this into some huge ordeal about the rich not paying for the poor. in this country, there are so many ways to get help and everyone has a shot at making themselves rich. im by no means rich, but lets not kid ourselves. if we suddenly became rich, most of us would use that money on ourselves long before we gave it "to the poor".

I am confused...We live in a country where our own people are homeless, on the streets...and BORED RICH PEOPLE make things like this to entertain themselves because they dont know what else to do with their money. This just goes to show how screwed up people truly are... If they spent some of their money on HELPING the people in their own country, things just might improve. We should NOT have homeless people in our country. We send all this money to help the starving in other countries and look at ours... This is warped thinking... Who needs a million dollar rocking horse..whats the point?
Ericka Sep 28th 2006 8:54AM
This child is obviously just the child model paid to stand next to the horse to show its size...duh!
Sadly I can see Tom Cruise buying this for Suri just to get in the spotlight.
Michelle Sep 28th 2006 8:54AM
Why is it the more expensive, the uglier and gawdier things are? I would not want that near me....the money it is worthh, yes, the ugly butt horse....NO!
Paula Sep 28th 2006 8:57AM
Hello.... Did you READ what it said...She is willing to take ORDERS...its all about the $$$$$$$$
vb Sep 28th 2006 9:04AM
Did anyone actually read the article.....The beautiful toy horse was not made to actually use it was made to show off the talents and to honor a prince being born...and how do you know that this person isn't helping the poor, hungry, needy, sick children....what is this world coming to when they only see the dollar sign instead of the talent behind a peice of art work....I doubt that the horse was ever intended to be used as a toy.......but if a child were to actually ride it the ride would be smooth........people get your heads out of your own greed and look for the beauty
Dan Sep 28th 2006 9:10AM
Don't be haters. All of you have spoiled your children at one time or another and you want to criticize someone for their appreciation of the kid. I personnally wouldn't have bought it for my child. Also I do not have that type of money to sling around like that. But I will provide for my children.
SHERRY Sep 28th 2006 9:15AM
WOW!!!!! WISH I HAD THE MONEY FOR MY GRANDDAUGHTER TO BUY HER THINGS I CANT. HE LOOKS KIND OF BIG FOR THE HORSE, BUT MY GRANDDAUGHTER WOULD FIT PERFECT. LOL :)

I agree with all of you, such extravagencies as this gold rocking horse, sports cars, Faberge Eggs, the Taj Mahal, the British Crown jewels, all of these things are pointless. They should all be torn to bits and distributed amongst the homeless and hungry naer-do-wells that would rather sit on a street corner all day with nothing than actually have to work to get something. The beauty of capitalism and the free market economy is that instead of sitting around on your fat a$$ and bitching about someone elses wealth you can go out and make your own millions, then give it all away however you see fit. One little aside here, the very fact that you have a computer, electricity to turn it on, an internet connection, and time to use it puts you in the top 2% of the worlds wealthiest people. Do you have any idea how many people in Etheopia you could feed with the $1000 you paid for your computer and the $40 a month you spend on an internet connection? So really, please stop whining, sell your computer, cancel your internet connection, go out and buy yourself something nice, indulge in a little capitalism, give the rest to your local alcohomeless person, and SHUT THE HELL UP! Now...where do I sign up for one of those gold rocking horses...I need three of them, and I want mine crusted with diamonds!!

Get real people, praise of royalty. Japanese have a great love of their royals, better to do this than just after WWII when communism was on the rise there. Money had enough power to overcome that. Could be that they don't waste time and money fighting useless wars, but spend it on business and family.
Julie Jones Sep 28th 2006 9:17AM
Dan I agree. I know my children and grandchildren are spoiled but with things from the dollar tree and dollar store, yet they were excited and happy. I have The Good Lord to thank for that. At least He provided a way for them to have something:).Now that this little child has had a horse dedicated basically to him everyone wants to be rude, even myself in the beginning of this article. Now I see how beautiful it is and it reminds me of what I will see in Heaven! Lets be thankful for what we have and also for what we don;t have as at some point in time we will have heaven if you have the Lord. Thats the best gift ever. Again i say this child is blessed , maybe better then we will ever know, He I pray will also grow to love the Lord and He has no idea what this horse is worth. Let him have a beautiful birthday for after all the child is the real gift.

"20. why do you care??!!!!! you're just jealous nobody's doing that for you. those who are poor are not different from us. they're just lazy!! not using their heads!"
