$1.28M Golden Rocking Horse
For the kid who has it all, Japanese jewelry designer Ginza Tanaka has created a 24-karat gold rocking horse. The toy was designed in honor of the birthday of Japan's Prince Hisahito and weighs about 80-lbs, significantly heavier than the normal wooden rocking horse that it is styled after. The weight does have an advantage in that it allows the chair to rock much more smoothly than other types of horses. Although the jeweler is willing to take orders for more, only one has yet been made and is valued at $1.28 million.

Whatever happened to the fabulous Mattel Wonder Horse of the 1960s? It was made of heavy vinyl and sat on a special base so when the child bounced or rocked the legs moved and the horse made "horsey" sounds. It seems this would be much more entertaining to a child than sitting on a hard metal thing that only rocked back and forth and caused "battle scars" if the child fell off. The only people benefitting from this would be hospitals, insurance companies and the designer. Bring back the REAL toys, put them all in a room and let the kids choose what they like. I'll just bet in a contest between Wonder Horse and "Goldie", Wonder would win hands down.

Well, God bless the child. he has something extremely nice. It is gorgeous! i wonder though if he were older, if he might help someone like me living on 500 a month, and in a womans room with 27 cats and roaches because i cant afford to find a home, let alone the medicine i'm on and the heat and electric. Don't get me wrong, kids deserve nice things, my grandkids love dollar tree toys. They go nuts! Thank God I have Jesus to help me through this. he does at least give me what I need and no one I know personally Needs a GOLD rocking horse! if you want to spend that kind of money, help me find a cheap clean place to live as our government cant seem too, or buy my medicine for a year. Don't throw money away on useless, dust collecting items. I am very happy for the child though. All children deserve everything as they are Gods gifts to us.

maybe someone should spend that kind of money on trying to figure out what kind of fuel everyone will use when the earth runs out of oil or better yet , how bout tryinmg to figure out , how to stop that asteroid from hitting the earth, that goes by us every three years and they say it will hit the earth in the year 2012, but i put a bet on it the government will never tell us its coming , due to the mass hysteria it will cause

why do you care??!!!!! you're just jealous nobody's doing that for you. those who are poor are not different from us. they're just lazy!! not using their heads!
Tres Sep 28th 2006 7:47AM
No matter what all you people are saying... Tanaka still made the horse, the parents are still rich, and lil' Prince Hisahito is still spoiled. You ppl waste your time on things that you will never change. Do you think the royal family cares about the starving ppl in their country... or care about this post forum? No. You are the same ppl that walk by the homeless person on the strret that is begging for food. HYPOCRATES!

If you think about it for a moment who, even the rich, would want something like that in a house? You would have to have some major security around it constantly or build a vault in your house to store it. It's isn't a childs toy, it is an artists extravagant expression, probably to gain recognition more than to actually sell.
It is amusing to me how many people jump on the band wagon that it is up to the rich to give to the poor. The poor are everyone's responsibility but too many times it is easier to ignore them like they don't exist. In our society you are allowed to get rich, be thankful for that. Imagine living in a country where that isn't an option.

It's amazing what people of wealth do with their money.
If they put it to good use their country wouldn't have homeless or starving people, or help out in other countries where people are starving, have no clothes, no health care at all, and no home worth living in.
Maybe the rich in the US would also benefit spirtually from giving to the poor, starving, homeless in this country. As a bonus in this country they could write it off as a charitable contribution. As the saying goes, give a monkey a long enough rope and watch what happens, look at us now!!! Thanks

This is nuts. why not take a few dollers and help someone like me, who works 50 hours a week and has just enough to pay his monthly bills. If I had that much money to spend on a rocking horse I think I woudl help others who can't afford to buy food for thier family.
Just crazy
Billy Sep 28th 2006 7:46AM
I read your comments and see that you are all missing the point. If you have the money you can do what ever you want with it. I see a bunch of jealous poor liberals crying, help the pour, feed the Starving children. Why dont you check the last time gold has depreciated in value!!
jimmy Sep 28th 2006 7:52AM
Its their money they should spend it as they want.I think things like this make the world a more interesting place. If you melted it and fed people there would still be hungry people and problems in the world.the gold isnt going anywhere why not make something out of it??
Frank Dracman Sep 28th 2006 7:46AM
I think it's a sweet that a family would love their child they are willing to spend unlimited resourses to make them happy!
Ama Sep 28th 2006 8:01AM
What is wrong with man? How can we walk around blind to the world. We must love one another. To live wealthy without a care is a curse, for you are consumed by objects of desire and your eyes fall away from God. Do not hate these wealthy lost souls. They need our prayers and our pitty. We cannot walk the path of the Lamb with the weight of riches. We must be rich in Love. The love of the Lamb is the greatest wealth of all.
I love you!
God bless..... :)

This has got to be the most ridiculous item I have ever seen. If parents have that much money, maybe they should be spending it on more practical things like schooling and trips to enhance education of their children. They could also donate some of this extravagent monies to less fortunate children around the world.
Julie Jones Sep 28th 2006 7:52AM
Some of us poor people are not lazy, thank you. Some of us are disabled and i want no pity. I have 4 wonderful children and five grandchildren. LOL, We all work, isnt that ironic? We werent born rich, We need the help, not a million dollar horse. i am very happy for the child and know perfectly well the child got to look at it but it stays in the jewellers. he has more then he could possibly need but I guarantee he has more manners and sympathy then some Americans. He is a prince and i imagine doesnt get much play time. God Bless Him. God will provide , he always has without fail and I do feel so sorry for you people who hate we people who are not rich. We didnt ask for it. We do love anything we are given though but the best gift is Jesus for me and mine.
PEPPA Sep 28th 2006 7:57AM
IS IT SOLD YET ???
NOW , WOULDN'T IT BE NICER IF THAT KIND OF MONEY WENT TO HELP THE HURRICANE VICTIMS GET THEIR DESTROYED HOMES REPAIRED.
John Sep 28th 2006 8:03AM
what a great toy, for all those that say it's crazy, here is the real truth, if anyone of them had the resources the last thing they'd do is help the hungry and sick, he earned the money why not let him spend it.
Julie Jones Sep 28th 2006 8:03AM
Amen AMA. God Bless you too:)
Patsy Sep 28th 2006 8:10AM
Amazing... and we wonder why kids grow up with unrealistic expectations and overblown opinions of themselves and their abilities. Spoiled brat??? Yup!
HEATHER Sep 28th 2006 8:16AM
THAT IS SO STUIPED! WHAT A WASTE I CANT BELIEVE THAT THE WORLD HAS COME TO SO MUCH GREED. IT IS REALLY SAD.
Ronda Sep 28th 2006 8:19AM
I'm not mad. I don't think I would have gotten something as a 1.28 million rocking horse, however, I don't live that kind of life, have no idea what living that kind of life looks for feels like, so I don't know. The "poor" side of me says that I wouldn't do such a thing, but the wanna be rich side says maybe I would. Hopefully my parents would have raised me to be more sensible and responsible in my spending, rich or poor.
