$1.28M Golden Rocking Horse
For the kid who has it all, Japanese jewelry designer Ginza Tanaka has created a 24-karat gold rocking horse. The toy was designed in honor of the birthday of Japan's Prince Hisahito and weighs about 80-lbs, significantly heavier than the normal wooden rocking horse that it is styled after. The weight does have an advantage in that it allows the chair to rock much more smoothly than other types of horses. Although the jeweler is willing to take orders for more, only one has yet been made and is valued at $1.28 million.

this is the end result when you have a non-war-based economy which focuses on development of manufacturing, electronics, transportation and global acquisition of wealth; and it's available to more people than movie stars and athletes.

Even people who could afford this would be crazy to let their child play on it...it's covered in sharp-looking edges and I can just imagine what would happen the first time a small child fell against it.

what a waste of money.

Greed that's all it is...when the world is burning up, I bet they'll be kicking themselves in the butt for not putting there wealth for better purposes...LIKE PREVENTING THE END OF ALL LIFE...GLOBAL WARMING,YOUR KIDS WILL BE BURNING UP....
Dan Sep 28th 2006 6:34AM
Maybe the father of this child should take a few dollars an help a needed child out of hungry

This kind of stupid consumption is what brings about bloody revolutions by the have-nots against the have-too-muches in power (e.g., the Bolshevik revolution against the Tsars).

Give the kid a normal rocking horse, and donate the rest to charity. I get sick over the foolish ways people find to throw away money that could be put to better use. I hope there are no more orders for these.

I think that it's really sad when anyone would purchase something for a child with a cost like this. There are people around the world who are dying of hunger every day. What about the people in New Orleans who have nothing. Who have lost everything and are working day and night and still can't get ahead. We need to help the people of the world, not just hand over lavish gifts to toddlers. What a sad day!
Mike Bryant Sep 28th 2006 6:46AM
Well this just proves it takes people with more money than sense to make up this world that is dying fast by the hands of the rich, while people in this persons own country including children, families, homeless, starving, diseased, poor, etc., care more about something stupid, that could be used to create enough food and medicines, housing, and other goods, to support a village, a city, a town, a province, whatever. Just tell them to send me the money, I will buy my kids some school clothes, a real home, and give the rest to poverty striken people.

LUDACROUS is all I have to say!!!!!!!!
Elle Sep 28th 2006 6:59AM
I find it sad that so much money was spent on something so ridiculous. there are so many starving, homeless children, this money could have been better spent. how sad
Beanie Sep 28th 2006 10:19AM
Britney will buy it... oh wait she will probably buy TWO!
Kim Sep 28th 2006 7:25AM
People, you're missing the POINT.
The thing is NOT intended for people to actually BUY.
It was made as an obvious PUBLICITY STUNT for the jeweler. It was made "in honor" of the birth of Japan's Prince Hisahito ... an extravagance "worthy" of the male heir to the the Imperial throne. It doesn't mean that the child is ever actually going to see it.
Wolf Sep 28th 2006 7:26AM
Well, this just goes to show ya folks, that some people have more money then brains! I would never let my grand child play on something like that. What if it tipped over on them?! A child could get seriously hurt!! What a waste of money. It would have done more good if the money that was spent on that "rocking horse" was put to better use, like feeding starving children in that country. Clean drinking water, housing for the poor. Most men don't think past their wallets. Now a woman would have said, "no, lets feed our poor children." They need it more then this ridiculous rocking horse. Feed your country's POOR Starving Children!!!
ka Sep 28th 2006 7:25AM
Spending this amount of money on a toy is obscene!!! We would have no hunger in this world if the rich were less greedy. Also we should boycott sports/music/movie until these celebrities start giving back to the starving. Multi-million dollar paychecks are not necessary but we allow it as well.
Glenn Sep 28th 2006 7:18PM
Things like this keep the rich, rich and the poor, poor.
Cindy O Sep 28th 2006 7:34AM
what a waste- he looks too big to ride it!!!! Reminds me of Luke 6:24. Sad.........
nancy vera Sep 28th 2006 7:38AM
I agree with the rational person who realizes this is a publicity stunt. However, it's disturbing to notice how much envy is dripping out there. To jump to the end of the world by global warming is quite a stretch, don't you think?
